Exactly! Cal's history of allowing players to hold him hostage is not acceptable now nor should it ever have been. Cal is an adult and should recognize what's happening and how to address it.

Reeves should have known before now what he's going to do. He needs to make a statement one way or the other.

There comes a time when anyone with an iota of self-respect would draw the line on being held hostage by a non-draftable UK player who's playing our program. That time's come...and gone with Reeves. He's toast with me and I no longer want him on our team irrespective of the impact his absence might have on our team. .It boggles my mind to think we're waiting with baited breath for this non-draftable, 5th year player, to decide whether to return to UK. GOOD RIDDANCE MR REEVES. (Of course, no disrespect intended)

^ I just think that the staff needs to send this message, both to the prospects and their associated handlers but also to themselves.

That they continue to allow this to happen suggests urgency for on-court results. I’d think, and hope, Calipari understands his seat is warming up.

I agree. Either he publicly commits to UK or withdraw the scholarship. Enough of this crap.

In most cases I'd agree with this.

But last year at UK must have been flat-out miserable. I mean if I heard about a high school team here in Kentucky somewhere that had every single player (except two) leave and desperately go somewhere else I wouldn't fault any of the players; I'd wonder what in God's name was happening with the coach.

Reeves seems to have had the exact same idea almost every other guy off last year's team had, but UK is desperate so he's listening. I mean at that point it's really hard to fault him and you have to believe something is bad wrong higher up the chain.

I’m beginning to think it has less to do with him listening, and more to do with the possibility that he simply can’t meet the requirements to transfer.

Even if that's the case I think the fault lies with Calipari. Guy seemingly did nothing to put the pieces in place to succeed this coming year. As discussed, yeah it's hard given the way the roster is built. But he did it before; he got Patterson back, Jones back, PJ Washington back...the list goes on.

Whatever happened behind the scenes last year must've been brutal.

I definitely think there’s merit to Will’s post. Program qualities like culture and fun and benefit to even being here are in disarray right now, and we see now they were last year as well.

But both can be true. UK shouldn’t be held captive like this, they’ve said publicly in the past that they wouldn’t yet hear we are again, and sometimes we see addition by subtraction.

Calipari has publicly boasted about this class repeatedly and that might be a big part of the prior roster being a mess off of the court. So here we are in a state of “out with the old and in with the new”.

If that’s the case, then don’t ride the fence with Reeves. He could have been replaced but we’ve waited on him to exhaust all of his options to bolt. That’s not cool

Definitely. After Calipari is gone someday I would love to see a list of things that occurred.

It's probably enough to make a man want to skip out of his post-game interview so he can get back to an episode of The Waltons.

On 3/19/23 Reeves played for 30 minutes against K. St. and went 1 for 15 from the field, 1 for 10 behind the arc, 2 for 2 from the foul line, had 1 assist and 1 turnover. With that line he should be begging to come back!

Oh, for sure. Last year was clearly a mess.

Taking the season as a whole Reeves was pretty good, though.

More importantly he'd be a really nice player to have on such a young team. But it's pretty obvious by now that he really isn't feeling UK unless we pay him a good chunk of that La Familia money...and as I said I'd criticize him for that if everybody else from last year's mess of a team hadn't run out of Lexington the second they got the chance.

Problem is, we’ve reached a point where Cal can’t make sensible decisions re: Reeves. We’d all love to hear that Cal told Reeves to walk if he doesn’t want to be here, but his roster mismanagement means he needs Reeves, to the point he has to let the player be as dramatic as he wants to be.

                              It’s pretty disgusting.

Other games he was our best player. Especially while Wallace was hobbled.

Ive said it before—he had a couple horrid games as a Cat, and they both came at really bad times. But it was not simply a matter of not showing up when the bright light were shining. Some of his biggest games were some of our biggest wins. 37 points against Arkansas in March? That was fairly huge.

To allow him to affect next year’s roster by dragging this out all summer—ABSURD! He’s not Jokic. But he is not disposable either if he could come back.
