And some of the Twitterites are wanting Cal to pursue him.

No matter what Cal does or who UK gets, the program needs three or four Yeats of blue blood type results. As of right now Kentucky basketball is right on the cusp of an Indiana type fall.

That'd be awesome, but honestly if we're talking about "need", one will do. One great season, capped with a championship, has us squarely in the limelight once again, right back in the conversation of "best program of all-time".

Some random thoughts on the roster from Father-Son Camp this past weekend.

            * Joey Hart is going to be loved here, I believe. He looks more like Jeff Sheppard than Reed Sheppard does (lol), in terms of his shot and also athleticism/dunking. Just great with the kids too.

*Jordan Burks reminded me of Lance Ware from last year: just a big, fun, goofy kid, who everyone else seems to love to be around.

*DJ and Dillingham were good with the kids too. They all were, for that matter, but the ones mentioned by name stood out.

*We didn't see Bradshaw, don't think he was there unless he came in while our group was at Craft.

              Yeah, agree.

And honestly Kentucky really should be in the conversation every year. With our amenities, money, fan attention, tradition etc. there's no reason we should be trying to catch up to Alabama and Arkansas as we are now. I mean we all know this but I'm just saying.

I would love for that great season to be this year but a lot of things would have to go exactly right. Even if we get this guy from WVU we'll have a razor thin margin for error. Not a great position to be in when there's this much pressure on a coach to perform as the years since the last Final Four begin to mount.

Kyle Tucker almost straight up saying, or at the very least heavily implying, that Mitchell is a Cat.

Kyle Tucker’s ramping up the not-so-subtle Tre Mitchell hints. Commitment imminent?

                    Nice.

Cal really got a really (really, really) important gift from Bob Huggins here. And alcohol.

If Mitchell is already enrolled in classes, how would he not be committed? Something is not adding up.

He probably is, though no official statement has been made on either point.

He was a Cat on Saturday. There hasn't been an official announcement (yet).

I agree. But, a year without Kentucky being the "Best program of all time," is unacceptable because prior to the Cal Slide it was always the norm.

Wait, when did Kentucky cease being the best program of all time?

I think Kentucky is still the best program "of all time" when you factor everything in, but for most people the more important thing is to be the best program in America at the present time.

The arguments about "all time" are always going to be theoretical thought exercises. They're on the level of arguing which MLB player should be in the Hall of Fame or something like that.

Arguing best program at the present time is more objective because you can measure it flatly with stuff like wins/losses, titles, Final Fours, conference titles, etc. And when you put things in that lens then Kentucky is currently not the best program even in the SEC, let alone in America.

To me that's a really big deal, and I think it is to 90% of Kentucky fans as well. A deeper, more complicated question is should/when will it cost Cal his job?
