I have no idea if Jordan Burks can step in and play right away. Mysterious, indeed.

Great size.
And his size makes it even weirder why he was ranked so low. Usually guys that big who have any athleticism and are attackers the way this guy is are really highly touted out of high school just by dint of their physical attributes.
Gonna assume he didn't play in one of the big AAU circuits or something.Comment

I'm gonna go ahead and assume Calipari reached out to Seth Greenberg and had him run interference for him after what Jones said last week.
Which is weaksauce, obviously. And it says so much about where we are as a program. When the coach is having to round up the friends he has in the media to defend himself...well, that ain't good.
Matt Jones is getting crucified by the die hard CAL supporters. Maybe what's he's saying is right wrong i don't know. Still i would think he has more knowledge and in house spies behind the scenes in comparison to 99% of the keyboard warriors on the internet, who knows?

Matt didn’t say anything wrong. He can be a troll, but in a lot of ways he’s doing more of the real journalists’ work than they’re willing to do. That whole trade prides itself on being “the watchdog for the people,†yet a lot of the time Matt is the only one barking.
You’ve heard “sunlight is the best disinfectant,†right? The more people who see and accept Cal’s failings, the harder it will be for him to get away with everything.👍 3Comment

I mentioned above that he might've been a little premature in saying that had we been able to land Kaluma, Burks, the big guy, and maybe another...but of course we struck out in the portal again. Whether that's because of "disarray" or something else--or a combination of things--I don't know.
What we're seeing from Cal this off-season appears to be more like a culmination that began in the B.J. Boston season and just has progressively gotten worse. Jones is reacting to that and it's totally fair for him to do so. We shouldn't treat Cal, who's a millionaire beyond all imagination, like he's a baby.Comment

They're terrible. They're basically like crazzed was on here but in the opposite way. It's just people trying to make folks feel like everything is okay; I'm positive even they don't believe what they're posting.
You see really negative people do the same thing a lot and it's just as bad with them. Worse when the team is playing well and you've got some a-hole over here trying to convince you that we suck.Comment

I have wondered about this the last few years. I do not live in Kentucky, so I am always curious as to the normal chatter around Lexington, etc. about how they feel about Cal. Because although it seems like a lot of people on these forums, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't.Comment

I was like that with Tubby. Supported him until it was beyond obvious we had to make a change, and even then I was sad when he left. I watched most of the Pitino years, too, but I was young. During those years, my rooting interests were parallel to my dad’s.
Tubby was my first UK coach, so I get why today’s teens and college students hold out hope for Cal.
Still doesn’t mean they’re right.Comment

I never thought Tubby was close to the level of Pitino but I also thought the Pitino bar was too high of a standard. I thought even back then, and still do, that Pitino caught lightning in a bottle. That was a historic run and not just for Kentucky but historic in the sense that it was.
The last two years of Tubby changed things and you can see echoes of what's happening now with what happened with Tubby at the end. There seems to be this directionless, listeless thing going on with Cal now that I recognize from back then.Comment

Pitino was my first coach, so for most of Tubby's tenure (even with those two or three great teams we had) I simply tolerated him.
Downes made a great point... most of the staunch Cal guys are either younger people who never knew another coach or not willing to admit being wrong about someone.Last edited by WildcatRick; 06-19-2023, 08:41 PM. Reason: Keep political references and opinions on the forum they belong.Comment
