BUT let's say Cal pulls these three freshmen and Kaluma. Man, that makes what Jones was saying yesterday pretty...rough, doesn't it? I mean he wasn't really saying anything most of us have said a hundred times. But obviously he has a much (infinitely much) bigger platform.

A footnote here is that if Cal rights the ship here and we round out the roster, it's STILL possible that Jones was right.

Cal did say on that tweet that they had reinforcements planned and nobody really knows who they offer or what is going on behind the scenes.

I figure that was mostly just coach speak, but maybe there's something to it.

Rutgers' Paul Mulcahy is in the portal. 6'6" point guard who can shoot it but doesn't shoot much.

Would be a great pick-up for Kentucky IMO...but again, a really tough sell. Bringing a veteran in to play spot minutes behind freshmen is just a brutal pitch for Cal.

But if you can get this guy you take him.

‘Saves the roster’ is also very subjective. No one doubts he could get players to come, but clearly the ones he’s targeting now are plan X, Y, Z, not plan A, B, or C…..or D…..or E.

One of my proudest moments as a "hoops guy" is when I predicted to my friends that Zion would be a "bust". Said before the draft that Morant was better player and would be the better pick. Despite guns, I still feel really good about that!

Matt said multiple times Cal is still able to get good high school players to come to UK, convincing them this is the best place to go to make it to and be successful in the NBA.....it's literally everything else he's struggling with.

He does. And Branham made a crystal ball pick for UK. Cal will try to get him to reclass back to his original class of '23. So UK basketball may have a slight pulse at the moment. Still in critical condition however.
