The espn story from Dickinson is telling. What it says and doesn’t say:

“Dickinson said he strongly considered every school on his list. He called Kentucky a "risk"​….”

So with others you might get the impression the NIL money was less than Kansas, but he went out of his way with UK to use the term ‘risk’.

Risk of what? Playing time? Cal being an ass? UK fans being asses? Oscar coming back (again, playing time)…..

He could’ve just left it - ‘high bidder was Kansas’….and gone on.

I’m surprised this wasn’t discussed at length here.

It seems obvious that UK was a risk. As long as there is the possibility of Oscar returning, I can't see any high level big transferring to UK. Is there any quality big left in the portal?

I cannot see Oscar coming back. As much as he loves KENTUCKY he also really wants to be a PRO (anywhere). Right now we are staring at 7 or 8 scholly players. He is going to fill out a couple of more with leftovers (guys move on and do not want to be option b). So being players first is always going to hurt us. We will be in the same boat but sinking a little quicker this coming year. We will have 5 freshmen starting and 2 guys coming off the bench and a couple of 2 min a game guys. We will have a twisted ankle or bruised knee cause us to lose 3 or 4 in a row again. Guys will be wore out by sec tourney. Here we go again.

How about Cal just walk into Bellarmine like Vince McMahon and offer them all scholarships. Just tell them to bring the playbook and keep running what they been running under Davenport, problem solved.........

Bellarmine was pretty bad last year. Watched them several times and they struggled quite a bit.

Two years ago they were good but the two high-level players they lost (one to the portal) hurt them badly.

Agreed. It was just a frustrated new jerk comment but still crazy our roster isn't filled with mass exits and hitting a dead end everywhere we turn, hope Cal has a plan for all this. Crazy me was actually hoping Oscar Toppin and Reeves would return this year, Livingston was a toss up. Now Ware, Collins, CJ even Wheeler gone, this offseason been a whirlwind at this point...

Some Freshman reporting next week, a trip to Canada in a few weeks and we still only have 7 scholarship players, no way to run a top level program. Cals 1 year way station to the NBA just isn't viable any longer
