The people who are in this program are here because it's become a "necessary evil". They either want to get in, get what they need, and get out ASAP or they remain here because in some manner they can't afford not to endure another slogging season here. That goes for the players and imo the staff too, and so what we've developed is a culture of self-destruction. This thing has spiraled out of control and needs a reboot.

With that said, I also wouldn't put any stock in Marc Maggard...have we forgotten what all that goober did last time around during the BCG years?

Anyway, re: Oscar I think the plan with him all along was that he'd take an NBA offer, any offer, and run with it. I don't think that's necessarily on Cal, think that was in the cards from the beginning.

Livingston for whatever reason looks to be in the same boat.

Staff needed to do everything in their power to get a big and get Reeves back. If they fail on both counts then, well, it's gonna be "interesting" next season. Quotations for emphasis and also to express deep concern.

Yep, looking at each player alone that seems to be the case and especially for Oscar an understandable one.

Livingston has had a relationship with Rich Paul, and I say that loosely, for some time now. There's responsibility on the staff to gauge how that will affect him as a player at UK, and imo this is one area where recruiting has taken a hit: getting a read on the situation with these recruits.

So while I can't sit here and blame Calipari for either of these two guys, I can point to a pattern of increasingly thin margins and more misses than we used to have. That's fair and reasonable imo.

I see articles stating Uk /Cal has reached out/contacted players. At this point in time, shouldn’t we be doing more than reaching out by offering a scholarship? Getting late to just be talking to these players. Maybe I am just overreacting.

I don't think you're overreacting at all. This next season could be a complete failure as usual, or if we get lucky and a couple players come back, it could be a decent season.

Lots of bs swirling around our program right now. What I do know is in about 4 weeks we will open camp for Canada trip and as of today we only have 7 scholarship players on our roster. Is that on Cal you,bet. The coach puts together the team roster and for the 3rd straight year Cal is running around at the last minute trying to coble together a roster. I am so sick of this happening over and over. Am also weary of the excuse that there is nothing he can do about the situation. I disagree, this is the model CAL created and encouraged.Can anyone explain to me WHY he can't tell kids " testing the waters " that it will leave a hole in our roster and necessity demands he fill it regardless of what they decide.If they choose to return they will have to compete for their spot just like everyone else.
