It's hard to tell which one will be the better player especially when I'm comparing a Junior in HS to the finished product Jeff was when he graduated from UK. Jeff was taller, but Reed has his Dad's build. Both play with a lot of energy and are very competitive, not shying away from bigger opponents. I sure am glad Reed is a Wildcat, and will be one for a few years.

Jack Pilgrim saying what we basically figured, Livingston will stay in the draft if guaranteed 1st round pick and if he doesn't then he will transfer Will not return to UK.

Ugo and Bradshaw for Bigs with Ware as the other option.
            Edwards at the other forward.
            Reeves
            Wagner
            Dillingham

Theiro Playing 3 or 4 next year.
            Sheppard
            Portal Big that shoots
            Portal Combo guard

Doubt we get what we really need. Another year a lot like this year.

I’ve seen the “portal combo guard” thing floated around quite a bit in the last couple days, and I just don’t get it. What team did people watch during the last two seasons? Is the need for a solid backup point guard not apparent to everyone by now?

Get a one and a two if you’re that worried about it, Cal, but if nothing else, make sure the lead guard spot is locked up tight. Last thing I want to see is Wagner go down with an ankle and Reeves or some other “combo” try to step up to run the show.

I thought Dillingham was a PG as well. I thought Wagner and Dillingham would be option 1 and 1a at PG. Reed Sheppard can also back that up as well. Heck Sheppard has a more college ready body than most freshman coming in. I agree I am tired of a simple ankle injury causing us to lose 2 to 4 games. If we need to get a 1, 2 and 3/4 in the portal I wish he would do so. I just do not see Cal having that big a roster. I like the thinking and I would want what you are saying.

Yes I think that Cal at least thinks that we’re set at PG with Wagner and Dillingham. Time will tell how that works out. They’re touted to be more prototypical Cal points than we’ve had for a while. Even Cal knew in bringing in Wheeler he was not a shooter. He was a scorer on bad Georgia teams but not a shooter.

Good deal. As good as Reed has been in high school, he may have to earn his time at Kentucky, Cal will always go with the athlete as the first option in my opinion....

This is honestly mind boggling to me, other than a few games Livingston got a lot of playing time so I'm confused of why he is leaving, is he that scared of the freshman coming in taking his playing time?
I just feel he could be a really good sophomore, and since there is no way he is getting drafted in the first round it sure would've been nice to have him back.

It was explained above that his people want him to be a guard.

I say good luck with that. He's closer to a bully ball 4 than he is a guard. Guy can't shoot or dribble.

I did feel like he was in for a pretty big jump next season just because his explosiveness and power are elite. And let's be honest: he'll probably transfer and shoot 40% from three.

Ah, I call this the “Chris Lofton Paradox”. Chris isn’t recruited by UK, so in his desire to ‘prove them wrong’ he probably shot 1000 3s a day in the gym and made himself into the player everyone saw. My hypothesis is simple: does that motivating factor manifest had UK signed him?

So, yes, by the Chris Lofton Paradox, some players will be motivated to improve once they feel they have to leave UK.

Like I stated in another post, Livingston never did look happy but that could just have been his demeanor.

I doubt very much that Shepherd is PG material.

                                Wow, a guard???

I don't know who he's paying in his corner but they need to get fired ASAP.. He's more of a shorter version of Poythrees in my opinion, no way a team just going to draft him and let him sit behind the 3 point line and chuck threes. Maybe it's possible the way the NBA is now but what a waste for someone with a good frame who should be able to get around the rim and take or give punishment.....
