Again, what is your definition of "success"?

We are One season removed from winning the SEC by four games and two seasons away from an overtime in the Elite Eight.

Let's wait to see what happens this year before we declare Cals system completely broken.

Being "the Gold Standard." You know, the standard that Calipari set.

I agree with you, that was a sarcastic comment.

No argument from me on this point.

I'm just saying that this season (which was so strange on a number of levels) might be a flawed sample to declare Cals ststem as irreparably broken.

I thought Tubby Smith was doing a very good job until the last two years. So it wouldn't be right to get on here and blast Cal to the point of wanting him farred for what's happening now.

With the exception of this past year. Tubby or Gillispie had nothing like that. It was beyond the pale.

But throwing that out as a one-off, I do think he's been successful to the point where as a fan you can say, "His teams are in the mix." Even the Quickley/Richards/Maxey team was in the mix.

Last year though really throws a wrench into everything for sure. But I'm still not down with the argument that Cal has lost it. We don't know that yet. He has definitely been blindsided by the changes in the game though, and that shouldn't be with the game's highest-paid coach. The highest-paid coach should be able to adjust quicker.

Calipari defined it when he came here, being the gold standard. We have slipped from that, we are no longer winning our fair share of the early season marquee matchups, we have a list of recent transfers and early defections that I personally would have to write down to keep straight, and we no longer get the truly elite recruits. We are having difficulty identifying prospects that want to be here any length of time because apparently the transfer portal offers a better opportunity to develop than does our own staff (transfer U).

There’s been a stark downturn and it stinks. I realize that the game and its intricacies have changed dramatically but unfortunately our response is to announce that we will mine the free agency each spring now. That, as much as anything, is an admonition that we can’t land the big fish reliably enough to meet our needs. It also demonstrates that the staff knows they can’t reliably keep guys in the program long enough to develop into very good college players.

              It’s not cool

Cade Cunningham’s brother and Ok. St. have “parted ways” so that he can manage Cade’s NBA career or something along those lines.

His role on their staff was never in question, but man, could they have been any more brazen?

The thing is it's all legal. I think I'm okay with it, but man, you're right it's super brazen.

If it’s legal, whatever, but had we done that I’d have felt a little sheepish about it every time Cade went out there and dominated.

                            Could also be Wimsatt, though.

                            Or, could be both lol.

Friend of me sent me a message saying apparently it's bad news re: Gavin Wimsatt. So maybe it's not Keion Brooks related.

If Wimsatt is going to Rutgers, I’m neither bothered nor surprised. They’ve gotten all the smoke lately, he’s yanked our chain for long enough, and his importance may have more to do with the optics of in-state recruiting than his potential as a QB. Losing him won’t break us, and some think Coen will actually prefer not to be obligated to him.
