like Will has pointed out correctly, a lot of it has to do with age and memories that, to be honest, are way more rose colored today than the real things thirty years ago.
Can't turn back the clock, and the athleticism of the players today is phenomenal.
Just a different game, with an extraordinary amount of ridiculous money for the players that Excell.

My wife gets way more fired up than I do. Way more.

But if we want to have those great memories years from now, if we want to be sitting around next April in a state of bliss, tomorrow is the beginning. To me it's just as big as a shot going in or a recruit signing or anything like that. It's sort of the beginning of what could be a tremendous journey.

If it doesn't fall UK's way then life goes on. But I'm going to be pretty tuned in until we know for sure.

I'm tuned in with ya Will... I'm checking my B/R alerts, my Google alerts etc. Lol

Like most of you have said the Vanderbilt situation is just odd...I don't get what he is doing and the kid can't catch a break-always hurt!

Diallo- I really think a family member must be his manager or agent...I don't whish this on the kid but as of now his NYC story is of the high school kid that the burro's were talkin about and then he turns into Lenny Cooke story.
If you have seen the documentary (you can find it on Netflix) you understand where I'm coming from: he has the wrong people surrounding him, in his ear, guiding him down the wrong path and look up, its too late and now your old.
Diallo did the same thing he did last draft no five on five, will do all the testing and work out for teams if they contact him. No 5 on 5? What kind of season did he think he had last year that he feels he doesn't need to compete/show what he can do against anyone?...sounds like he was scared to be shown up again imo. Anyway, he is an overseas player, we don't need him back.

I would like to see Washington and Vanderbilt back. Washington is not NBA ready right now he reminds me of Okafor...I didn't think he was a one-and-done either.

I had forgot about Diallo not actually having announced yet. I just assumed he was gone. Doesn't matter to me. Unless he can play consistently like he did against Buffalo he doesn't need to be her. He should just go pro and be happy with it. He doesn't want to be here which is quite obvious. It looks that way too about the other three.

I don't chalk the players testing the waters up to their not wanting to be here anymore than I do Calipari's constant flirtation with the NBA up to the fact that he doesn't want to be here.

I believe Cal when he says he loves his job. But there are other opportunities out there that might be better.

The players have had a dream of pro basketball all their lives, not Kentucky basketball. As I said above, how long has that been the case? Twenty-five years at least. It probably goes back to the days when we had a roster of multiple Kentucky players. You have to go back to the mid-'80s or even earlier to find something like that.

If he had this opportunity I would urge my son to do the very same thing these players are doing. See if you can play professional basketball. You'll be set up for life, your kids will be set up for life, and you get to play against the best in the world.

There is no downside to what these three players have opted to do.

I hope more people care by the end of the day, because we could have a hell of a team next year.

But it could turn out that a lot of people are going to hate the one-and-done thing more than they ever have, because we've never lost three guys who aren't going to be drafted in the first round.

I can't imagine all three coming back because it seems like the decisions are maybe contingent on one another. They've drawn out so long it's possible that the players are each waiting for the other.

Wenyen Gabriel in particular is somebody who might not want to play with the other two because his minutes are going to be cut. I'd love to have him but I can understand him not wanting to risk being the third (or maybe even fourth) wheel at his position. That's a bit of a logjam at the 4.

Today is a huge day for UK basketball. One of the biggest in a really long time. Depending on what happens today we could literally be anywhere from a legit national title contender to a mediocre team much like last year's.

All three decisions could go either way and I wouldn't be surprised. If I had to guess I would say 2 leave and one returns and then Cal works like crazy to find another piece somewhere.

But, if 2 of the 3 (say PJ and JV) come back. Woah baby....watch out because UK will be crazy good.

I haven't heard much about Reid Travis lately.

If UK ended up with a healthy Vanderbilt and Reid Travis, I'd take that. Travis is the exact sort of player UK was missing last year against those more physical teams.

Washington could be that same sort of player though with a little outside skill. I noticed Jones say on his Periscope last night that last week Washington was ready to announce he was coming back; I'd say his family wanted him to wait and see who dropped out, and many have. But the biggies are all staying in.

Actually, right on cue someone tweets that Reid Travis may be a grad transfer at UK next year.

It likely means that Washington and/or Vanderbilt are gone (still not sure where Jarred Vanderbilt goes), but if this is true then UK is getting a player.

A critical moment is coming for the future of Kentucky basketball tomorrow. We're going to have a real shot to win a national championship if things fall the right way.
I'll believe Duke as a number one team when I see it.

They have three unbelievably gifted players (all playing the same position), but an unproven point guard, no inside game, and literally zero depth.

                              Really interesting news.

As I said, not sure how it could have happened without Cal getting in touch with Travis to tell him at least two of these forwards are moving on.

You never know if Vanderbilt can actually play, but a healthy JV alongside Reid Travis is something to think about.

Still think that combination makes Kentucky one of the clear title favorites.

I just came here to post this. I'll gladly take Travis over Washington. He's a stud and will bring a lot of experience. I, like everyone, assume that if he's coming we are losing PJ. I think PJ ends up making $25k in the G League, but it is what it is.
