There's a lot known but just as much that's unknown about next year.

What is clear is that, barring a surprise reclassification or somebody decommiting and signing with UK, the hopes and dreams of next season reside with those four who are still up in the air: Vanderbilt, Washington, Gabriel, Green.

If Kentucky somehow returns all four of those guys (doubtful) then it's probably the #2 ranked team in the preseason. If it returns none of those guys it's probably a double-digit loss team that's going to be rough to watch.

This really stinks 7 players gone or in the wind, with possibly an 8th about to defect . Cal's GOT to change focus My suggestion would be to recruit A. The best player in the state every year B.Recruit a 4 star type kid that is obviously a college player every year. Some of these kids will not contribute but enough will IMO over the course of 3 or 4 years to give us the stability we desperately need Its only a couple of scollies and still will leave room for. 3 or 4 five stars

So he is healed enough to workout? I was under the impression he may need surgery, but am glad that surgery wasn't needed.

Don't think anybody knows for sure. Matt Jones says he's probably not. But if he's testing the waters you think he'd at least have enough to go through the combine.

Just an aside....it just struck me there's a big part of the folks howling for JV to stay that seem to be counting in the kid to be too badly hurt to go pro and HAVE to come back to UK

In a way that's kind of as troubling as the OAD thing itself.

No more troubling really than people hoping players fail in their workouts with NBA teams.

I get that. To me it's part of a fan's necessary selfishness. If we were truly altruistic then I'm not sure we could even be fans. What we want sometimes cuts directly against what the players want for themselves.

This concerns me in a different way. Say Vanderbilt forgo's needed surgery to go to the combine, get's feedback that points to the need for him to return to school, and he decides to return.. He could miss a chunk of next season rehabbing from the needed surgery.

Or injures himself further in the tryouts....ruining both dreams.
I bet my retirement though he has someone on a medical staff telling him it's safe. Perhaps cripplingly PAINFUL, but not on itself crippling.

Don't care as much about the JV situation simply because I just don't think anyone will give him different advice other than return to UK, try to actually get healthy enough to play a full season and work like crazy on shooting.

The Washington, Gabriel and Green situations concern me much more.

Bob, you could well be right...who knows these days?

I think Gabriel and Washington get pushed further down the list with each new 'testing the water' announcement.
JMO, Azubuike seems much more NBA body ready than either UK forward. AND I have absolutely no idea which European players will also be water testing.

Being reported on Twitter that Tom Leach has a source that says PJ and Quade are leaving UK and that he thinks Vanderbilt and Wenyen return.

Honestly, doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I like Quade and think he can be a 4 year guy but his size will always be a concern unless he turns into Chris Lofton. I actually think it's a smart move if he really wants to play at the college level and gets the minutes that some team will offer him on a nightly basis with no if ands or buts.....

As for Washington, your not that good and good luck finding a team who will give you a shot, especially if your thinking about the NBA. Can't handle the ball, can't make a freethrow, can't guard bigger post players, can't post just a spin move, can't shoot a mid range or 3 point shot, are you kidding me??? I mean if you want to make some comparison then look at Anthony Bennett, difference is Bennett could actually post and use his body, not you PJ, not you......

WE DON'T NEED PLAYERS WHO THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN WHAT THEY REALLY ARE AND ARE AFRAID TO COMPETE WITH OTHER TALENTS FOR PT.................
