I don't aim to start the Tubby Smith debate again. But to say he was given that championship is just crazy.
I think its harder to win as a coach with other coaches players. What Tubby did was remarkable IMO.
    Kentucky fan since 1971.

To say that team didn't play Rick ball is crazy, why didn't Tubby continue to play that style the rest of his years at Kentucky when it actually won him a Championship?
I don't follow the NBA so yes I forgot Padgett. I agree they were groomed by Pitino and played his style. My point was that team was simply not good enough to be considered a lock to win anything. Saying it was handed to him makes it sound like you or I could have coached and they would have won.

They had to battle and nothing was locked, i agree.Still, Loiusville is going to have a hard time finding a replacement for Pitino, coaches like that don't grow on trees..............

Look at Indiana and the history there and after it all went south, they still haven't made it back...

One thing i see trending over the past few years with top talents who gamble and go to schools like Texas, Okalahoma, andeven Arizona, they are missing out on playing for all the marbles.Kentucky and Duke pretty much gives you the best chance to go pro and play for a Championship....

I wonder how much players even care about winning a championship. Seems like it's more and more about going where I can showcase my skills instead of being a team player. It is not that way with all players but seems to be more common than it use to be.

I don't think they care at all for the most part, they just want to do what the NBA tells them they have to do for one year and then go pro. I think some players like the idea of teaming up and making a run at a title but for most,it's all about getting paid...........

Cal came to UK with Wall and Cousins already in tow and then others jumped on board and the rebuild was done. That was Calipari and UK. I don't think UL, Mack and probation will be quite as big a draw. We will very soon know if Mack is willing to try it. It seems to me that he's one of the hot names out there and could land a job with big money and less risk if he's ready to leave Xavier.

Louisville news stations were listing Billy Donovan as an option last night. 😅😅😅. Good luck! Hope he's still doing whatever Rick tells him to do.

Why would Sean Miller deny being a candidate for the Pitt job or why would it be reported he was a candidate. Crazy situation.

Per reports....Mack is in Louisville this weekend to meet with them. My guess is to finalize the deal.

                  Billy Donovan....LOL

I think the real question is why on earth would anyone have the first bit of interest in Sean Miller right now?

The reports in Cincinnati are that Chris Mack will be introduced at Louisville tomorrow afternoon.

Courier-Journal story on Mack's hiring at UofL. Think Louisville got a good one. They went out and got one of the two or three hottest names in the game while still under a lot of NCAA heat and working with mostly an interim staff inside a fractured university. Not easy to do.

Believe Mack can return the UofL/UK rivalry to pretty good form.

New Louisville basketball coach Chris Mack has won 200-plus games at Xavier, including three Sweet 16 appearances and one trip to the Elite Eight.

So the remaining question is...did they really give him $49,000,000? Don't have any doubt he can coach but...WOW! Cal deserves a raise.

The deal I saw was 7 years at 4 million per so...no.
