I would assume each school could set the requirements for their coaches. May not be a good look for the highest paid university employee to not have a degree but at the same time why should it be required? A lifetime playing a sport at the highest level then coaching a few years with success are probably a much better prep than sitting in a classroom. Plus Penny probably has a degree from UNC.
