I would assume each school could set the requirements for their coaches. May not be a good look for the highest paid university employee to not have a degree but at the same time why should it be required? A lifetime playing a sport at the highest level then coaching a few years with success are probably a much better prep than sitting in a classroom. Plus Penny probably has a degree from UNC.

Now its definitely frowned upon to claim to have a degree you do not have--see George O'Leary/Steve Masiello.

All i can say is i am thankful for Cal, i moan and groan at early season junk basketball but this guy figures it out, makes a whole lot of us eat crow year in and year out me included. I dont always understand the method to the madness but it works in today's game of overall parity like never before. .

Hell the worst part about it, he had Donna Smith sitting outside in his car lol lol lol

Tubby was 4-2 against Pitino while Tubby was here.

You just have to check the all time record between UL and UK. Not much stomping by UL. Even Crum had trouble beating them and UL was in its hey day too in the early to mid 80's. Also Crum made UL a top 10 program. Pitino sustained until he went rogue. I have no idea who they can hire. But I find it hard to believe anyone much good would consider UL until all this mess is behind. But you guys are closer to this than I am.

UL just got their final beatdown of the season. Smacked by Miss St. I suppose coaching changes will be known soon as they'll want to be an early player in the carousel.

Fair enough but to me it seemed like Louisville had teams with the potential to win it all while i felt like the wheels was slowly coming off for us. Regardless of what the record was, i didn't like the fact Louisville had a better coach than us and that is the truth, especially our ex coach who put us back on the map. .

What's kind of surprising is if this offer is true, the package for Mack on day one would be almost the same as Pitinos on hi exit.

                    Lotta money there, guys.

The only UK coach Pitino ever had real success against was Billy Gillispie, and even then they had to have an Edgar Sosa (?) last second 3 to win it.

Pitino was 6-14 against UK, I believe.

The Cincinnati news broached the Chris Mack to Louisville rumors last night. Offered nothing of substance, but the rumor has at least made it up here.

I'm skeptical, but maybe it's truly happening. I just can't imagine a coach on the rise going to Louisville with a future that is, at best, uncertain, and at worst, screwed. If they get hit harder with more sanctions, I imagine the rebuilding is going to take all the much longer, and the fans aren't gonna be that patient.

                        He'll have $50 million dollars, I guess.

Talked to a freind of mine who's a die hard sucky UL fan and he hear's it's a done deal. Said Tyra met with Mack last night and they told the players. Chris Mac's wife is from Louisville and an alumni of U of L and his agent lives in Prospect.

Doesn't matter, still going to get a kicking from UK...

I'm skeptical of that - that's the sort of thing that would leak out were it true. Further, U of L had a game last night. Whose players were meeting with Mack?

Maybe the details are being worked behind the scene, but there's no way the players have been filled in yet without it leaking to the media.

All i know is they met lastnight. Whether they agreed not agreed or told players, i have no idea, I was just posting what i heard. More than likely the truth lies somewhere in between..

See, I'm just skeptical that they even met last night. U of L had a game last night at the Yum center - maybe Tyra is burning the midnight oil on that, but I'm skeptical that he's out finalizing deals before having a sitdown with Padgett at the end of the season.

Not throwing water on you J Jennings, just saying that the whole thing seems like a rumor that's gotten way out of hand. Maybe Mack will eventually become the coach this week or next week or something, but I have my doubts that everything's this far down the road already 12 hours after their season ends.
