The Barrett deal is still odd. If he's a lock to Duke why hasn't he committed?

Also think Johnson seems to be the guy who is leaning UK the hardest. Would be nice to get a commit before our regular season begins.

I sure hope so. He's given us plenty of reason to believe. So this is jumping the gun but--IF Barrett goes to Puke, Williamson goes to UNC and Bol goes to Oregon, some guys from this year go pro who aren't ready...we're in deep doodoo. Don't see Cal sticking around much longer if he can't get the studs.

Again--that's a lot if "ifs" but I'm getting a little nervous without some good news on the recruiting front. It's all been negative lately when a few weeks ago we were more excited about next year than the one we're about to begin.

Have to think if they thought there was a chance this would happen they'd be tossing out offers to some unsigned four-stars. Just in case.

Have to be able to field a team. Outside of Herro we've pretty much stood pat in terms of our offers for months.

From the outside, it's still concerning. One would think if Cal's confidence were that high, there'd be little question about any of his targets. It's tough to feel comfortable when so many of these guys still seem to be up for grabs.

That's really not any different than most years though.

Most of the guys we sign are up for grabs until the very end. MKG and Towns types don't come along very often.

With 90% of the players Cal has signed, I've seen people swear they're going to another school on these boards in the days and weeks before they chose Kentucky.

I'm sure he is banking on keeping a lot more players from this year than normal. But that's where things get tricky. The success this year (or lack of) will play a big part in who is still here next year.

Sure, but Duke is in very much the same boat as far as the question of returners.

And it's always been said of Kentucky that things are up in the air with who's going to return. We've heard that refrain pretty much from the second Calipari stepped in.

I just don't think this is that different than it always is. Last year was really the only time I've seen Cal get the class buttoned up by Christmas, and the caliber of player--minus Knox--he was in the mix with was a little lower.

When you're up there at the very top those guys often play the game until the end. Hard to blame them.

This year just has a totally different feel to me. Most years you know going into a season that there will probably be 4 or 5 leave. This year outside of the 2 obvious ones I think it's less definite.

Me too but just in the sense of the possibility being out there that we could be recruited against by other teams because of possible returners, that's been here every year with Cal.

Cal always makes recruiting classes work, and there is absolutely no reason to panic about this one.

Even when unexpected stuff happens, he finds a way (Murray two years ago comes to mind).

Cal will take a visit tomorrow to watch Tyler Herro work out.

Stayed in Rupp and listened to Cal do the postgame last night.

At one point he said the team was off today because he had to go recruiting. He told Dave Baker, "I have to go out and get one more player."

Thought that phrasing was odd. Obviously he's talking about Herro, but not sure why he would say "one more."

May not have meant anything at all. Could've meant he feels really confident about a couple of these other guys and that Herro might be the last piece.

Might mean Grimes isn't happening so he has to get Herro.

To Catsrock above: If Cal cant recruit top 5 stars anymore here, why the heck would he go to a lesser school and try to do it? That statement of yours made no sense. No disrespect intended.

I think the poster might be saying that Cal could jump to the NBA.

Have to think he's probably here until Brad leaves, but regardless just looking at this current recruiting season: if he were worried about not getting some of these guys he'd have other offers out. It's October 31st and no new offers except Herro.

It has to mean: he's getting two, maybe three of these guys.
