It would seem that the staff focused in on the season at present and let up on recruiting. That's understandable and given what we were chasing...I'm fine with it. I think they're working feverishly on the class of 2016 where we ought to be able to haul A.

The staff seemed to be really burned by Zimmerman and Newman. Maybe Booker and Dakari too.

Put them in the lurch and they had to rush in to try to make up ground with guys like Ingram and Diallo and couldn't do it.

Odd that after Cal's two best teams/seasons at UK he has had a heck of a time getting guys. Just feels like there is something else going on. How would ALL of these guys pass on UK and Cal? He hasn't missed like this in his entire career.

I may be way off base with this one but I think one of the reasons is after the last few years, kids have seen that they can go to other elite programs and still get the spotlight attention they need and be top draft picks. Those first few years, everyone made it out to be that Cal was the only coach who liked coaching one and dones and was the best at getting guys to the league. Obviously that wasn't the case, but that's how the media played it.

The 2016 class is really going to show if Cal is still the best recruiter, there is a lot of talent in that class and if he can get a few of them it could be special.

And lets be honest, Cal still landed an arguably top 2-3 recruiting class, it's not like he didn't land anybody. Most teams would be ecstatic with that, we just had a few kids leave that i'm sure Cal and others weren't planning on and when that happens there is no room for striking out, which Cal has the last few weeks.

I think Coach K's success and focus on the OAD has and will hurt Cal in recruiting. 2016 is going to be a challenge as well. UK is in the discussion with most of the top 10 guys but doesn't lead (as of now) with any of them.

Misses by Cal in 2015 - Kennard, Bryant, Swanigan, Diallo, Newman, Zimmerman, likely Brown and maybe Murray as well. Wonder what he is thinking right now?

I think that made a difference to Malik Newman, yes.

Zimmerman puzzled me most because his Mom seems so enamored with Calipari, often referring to him as Elvis. That and I thought he'd pair well with Skal, almost as well as Diallo could have.

Looks like we'll get to see what Lee and Willis are made of.Like Downes said-TEST. This is a big one for Cal but nowhere as big as in 2013. I for one think we'll be fine.

A few weeks ago he said that really wasn't an option, but yeah sometimes these guys say a lot of things so who knows. His guardian said he was working really hard to get the work done in time so he could reclassify for 2015, but that may have changed.
