The fly in the ointment is that he would like to stay in school and play with his younger brother next season. Also, isn't there some question concerning his being eligible? I thought I read that some where.

That's where Mulder comes into play I think. Cal will obviously take both, but it may be a first to commit makes the other's decision for them kind of situation...at least as far as going to UK goes...

Mulder is scheduled to visit UK next weekend....

Supposedly Duke is doing another in home visit with him Tuesday, and NC will on Wednesday. I still say NC ends up as his landing spot.

With Cal taking the trip up to Canada this weekend in order to go after Murray and Mulder who are both guards (also visited with Thon Maker), it makes you wonder if he's gotten the gist that Malik Newman is no longer a possibility. It's been said recently that Murray may not be available until 2016, but Mulder looks like a guy who may end up a Cat. Newman has a $1.5 million dollar offer to play overseas. He was quoted recently as saying it's a consideration, but not a real serious one.

IF both Murray and Mulder end up coming to Kentucky that would give us Ullis, Briscoe, Hawkins, Murray and Mulder at the guard position. It's been said that playing time is the biggest contributing factor in Newman's decision when it comes to which school he chooses to go to.

Either Duke or UNC I'd say. It would appear he really wants to go to UNC, but doesn't want to attend a school with NCAA problems.

And yeah, we're going to miss out on having a guy that can be a bruiser down low for us this year. Thomas Bryant and Caleb Swanigan must not of been to Cal's liking. Right now we only have Skal and Marcus up front, that's it. That's why I was hoping we would get Thorne, but he went to Illinois which still absolutely just boggles the mind.

Looks like Newman may announce later this week. I spoke to someone yesterday who told me that as of now there is 0% confidence by Cal and staff that he will be at UK. They haven't even spoken in 1-2 weeks. Cal is pushing to get a meeting or call setup with him.
