I find it almost impossible to believe that Thiero is transferring. I see either the NBA or a return to UK.

Very much looks like Thiero's family is casting a net for the highest bidder.

Getting Thiero back would be less priority than getting still another 18 yr old one & doner who doesn't give a flip about "The Kentucky Experience" ? REALLY Coach ????

^ I’d rather sit down and let SCBlu kick my teeth out than type this, but…

At some point budget comes into play with this new era of free agency, and while there isn’t a “cap limit” per se there is a finite amount of funding available.

So there will be instances where a player feels or knows they can make more money elsewhere, and their current team simply can’t or won’t pay enough to keep them on the roster.

We will and likely have already seen that play out. We have definitely seen it wrt transfers. See Dickenson, Hunter.

I’m not making excuses for this hairlipped method of putting our teams together, just saying this is one of the considerations

            Yep.

Cal being a horrible in-game coach makes all this worse. If he were worth his salt as a coach and had somehow dodged St. Peter's, Oakland, and gave a rip about the COVID team...maybe you'd not have fans lose it over stuff like Adou Thiero leaving. But Thiero leaving is just another kick in the teeth in what is becoming a torrential downpour of teeth-kicks, season after season, off-season after off-season.

Thiero situations are happening all across America now. But that doesn't absolve Cal. Not even close. Because Cal was bleeding players way before it was cool...and the guy can't make it up by being even close to a maestro with the clipboard so he could maybe overcome the player defections.

Thiero is interesting because of how his value will be determined.

For me he’s worth more than his stats because he represents a guy who will have been here for two seasons, who is maturing into his body, who can provide much needed effort and physical presence for a roster that’s always too young…oh and he just keeps getting better. It’s difficult to gauge what type of jump he’ll take as junior much less determine his value to the program.

The amount of effort spent in re-recruiting him will speak volumes about how the staff sees program building at this point. My guess? Some effort will be taken, but if they have to recruit his replacement then fine. Hope I’m wrong.

Well when you look over there at Kansas and see K.J. Adams is coming back for them, and then Kentucky loses a guy like Thiero...well, that doesn't sit too well with folks. Nor should it. It's a dang mess.

I have a feeling that when Adou has his end of season meeting with Cal, it’s going to look something like this:

Thiero going to another SEC team would be the ultimate punch in the gut. Like I have stated several times, it is just a business so show me the money is the driving force for portal landing spots.

How did UNC get Bacot to keep coming back

Why every year do our players leave after year one

Because it's baked in to the whole pitch for them to come here. Been this way since April 2009.

Yeah.. it was fun in the beginning but not now

I'm just tired of a new roster every year

It was fun seeing guys that were can't miss first round guys spread their wings.
watching guys just not react to go jump wasn't. Neither was watching a couple guys get a legit chance someplace else blossom....someplace else.
Watching the defending POY actually come back and get blamed and belittled and not developed makes me ask why would anyone want to stay at Kentucky.

For all the people who blamed Oscar there were just as many who loved him.

However all these players right now, including even the superstars like Reed, aren't getting the credit they deserve from the fanbase simply because of the coach. It reminds me a little of what was happening with Tubby at the end. I mean Rajon Rondo, as great as he was, was never appreciated here because of what was going on with Tubby. Coach situations become all-consuming in college sports and completely take the air out of the room when they start happening.
