    “Luck,”
    “Lightening in a bottle,”
    ”Perfect storm.”
Whatever you want to call it—it was also right on the heals of the first ever 64 over a 1 seed embarrassment. They just shouldn’t have been champs, but no one did their job to knock them off.
Strangely enough there’s a pretty darn good chance the second “biggest flop ever” does the same turnaround this season (Purdue). But they probably are actually championship worthy. Maybe the Cats can prevent it! 🤞

Wilmington lost but played well at Arkansas. Put up 90…but gave up 106.

Still, that’s a team that *might* win their league, which would help Kentucky on Selection Sunday.

We’re at #6 in the AP poll. Not too shabby!

Highest ranking this late in the season since 2017, I believe.

Big win for Kentucky’s seeding as Miami, who appears to have resurrected their season, beats Clemson.

Media is talking, ranking is getting better, NBA draft talk 8 players from Kentucky including Dillingham and Shepperd way up on the board, what could possibly go wrong???

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a UK football situation.

Finally start to get a little respect from the talking heads and then forget all of a sudden how to play the game......

Please tell me this group is different and will keep it head out of social media and all the blah blah blah talk....

              Stay focused...

The team hasn't accomplished anything at this point.....

I watched the entirety of UCONN and Butler last night.

UCONN is really good. They run some of the best stuff of any team I've seen. Hurley can really coach. Plus they've got some guys who know what it takes to win tough games. Every time the game got close one of their guys would calmly just go down and make a play.

If the big man comes back healthy they might be the best team even with Purdue out there.

Kentucky fell a spot to #18 in the NET after last night's win. Houston meanwhile didn't move after losing. BYU has somehow lost twice in the last five days and remains at #4.

We're starting to show up as a potential 2 seed in bracketologies. Not that that matters at all on January 10th, but I still maintain that if we can get out of the SEC at 14-4 we'll probably be a 2.

This game Saturday would probably move us up about 10 spots if we could get it.

I used the Wayback Machine to go back to this time last year and look at the KenPom rankings.

At this point last season, the team that most closely resembled Kentucky was Texas. They had 2 losses, were #7 in offense, number 41 in defense. Texas ended up as a #2 seed and was beaten by Miami in the Elite Eight.

The Final Four participants last year on January 10th on KenPom:

                    Miami: #42
                    San Diego St.: #21
                    Florida Atlantic: #39
                    Connecticut: #3

                    Kentucky on January 10, 2024: #18

Kentucky fell just a spot to #18 in the NET.

The good news: still a lot of Quad 1 wins out there in the SEC. There are three top 10 teams currently.

The bad: Mississippi State's loss yesterday caused them to fall out of Quad 1 territory. Georgia is well out of Quad 1 territory. So no big wins out there this week, just risky losses.

Gotta get Thiero back available. Tre played 44 minutes yesterday and I think that is playing with fire.

Kentucky is unchanged this Monday morning and still sits at #18.

Team to watch in the country seems to be Auburn. They're just killing everybody. Strangely we have to wait awhile until we play them: February 17th, at Rupp.

It does look like this South Carolina game on Tuesday night would be a Quad 1 if we can get it.

Auburn goes down, finally, to Alabama last night. Arkansas gets smoked by Ole Miss.

So now this game on Saturday is essential. We can't lose to that team. They're a mess. Also, the SEC race is opened back up and our loss this week doesn't sting quite as much. I think whoever wins the SEC has a good chance of pulling a 1 or 2 seed.
