    So that's delightful.
I’m as serious as I can be, here: how is this anything other than dereliction of duty on Cal’s part, and why shouldn’t the school take action like they would against any other flailing employee?

Because he has a Lifetime Contract, and we can't afford to do anything about it even if we wanted to.

Even in the event the employee stops doing his job?

        Cal’s basically quiet quitting.

I think DVZ is asking how it wouldn't qualify under "For Cause" reasons for termination, ie "We don't owe you 30 million".

Well, like most employers, they don’t assume what someone said on the Internet is necessarily true.

Also, assuming it is true, maybe Cal knows other things that we don’t. Maybe the kid’s handlers have already let their demands known and Cal won’t accommodate.

I’ve been ready for the next coach since ‘the greatest day in UK basketball’ was announced by Cal.

The program has issues. His contract, I’m sure, has specific ‘for cause’ reasons. Welcome to the world of coach-friendly contracts. UK can’t fire him because he strikes out on a transfer, or Cal ghosts a player, or Cal chases away the whole team.

Maybe we could suggest that be in the next coach’s contract and we can see who signs at the bottom 🤷‍♂️

Eh, terrible comment. But we had really big success after that comment.

I long for the days people got in arms about stuff like that. Instead what we're up against now is way more alarming and devastating. They're not even in the same universe. This is real...well, it looks like incompetence.

I’m not just referring to this particular recruitment, though.

I’ve long been of the opinion that all the talk of Cal operating in secrecy was just a cover for the fact that he’s stubborn as can be and probably isn’t doing half as much as he ought to be in this new era of college basketball.

Could you imagine if the University and it's attorneys broke bad and tried to fire him for cause on that? BCG ended up with a settlement, just imagine what Cal would do.

I’m (mostly) joking. I know it’s all very complicated.

But seriously, I’d give a lot at this point if they could find a way to get out from under that contract.

Claim Mitch had it drawn up while under the influence of some kind of religious vision quest or something, thus rendering the whole thing null and void.

                              Anything. I don’t care.

I have a feeling that Calipari will be ready to sit down and see how much they'd pay him just to leave after this, ahem, season is over in March 2024.

If he was feeling pressure this past December, well...it's going to be rough this year. I think the university, the fans, the boosters, and the town will run him out because the season is going to be a disaster.
