The only explanation is they're not getting anyone else available.

SHot it better as a freshman. But his 2 yr averages are 43% overall and 27% from three. Not anything to get excited about.

I think there are better options for sure. But, I don't think Wheeler would be the disaster that many on social media and message boards are making him out to be.

HIs 3 pt % was horrendously terrible. But he shot 52% and 45% on 2 pt FGs in the last two seasons and 74% from the line. So to say he is a terrible shooter is not totally accurate. I think in a better system with better players those numbers would increase.

He averaged way more points, more steals and more assists than anyone UK had last year so the guy can clearly play a little.

Even so, not someone I would be super excited about and I hope Cal lands a better PG.

Agreed, except for two points: I’m skeptical that a better system or team would improve his 3pt. shot, and I’d be careful when comparing anyone to last year’s guys. Our most recent guards were the worst of the worst, and anyone looks good against them.

Would love Wheeler as a backup, but I don’t want to hand him the keys.

Saw where Adam Miller was announcing his decision on Saturday.

I have to think the timing isn't coincidental. If the Antigua news is correct then it makes sense Miller would follow.

Since he chose to leave prior to the coaching changes, maybe he doesn’t have a close relationship with the coaches in question. He could also have known the coaching changes were coming prior to him deciding to leave. Probably a lot of behind the scenes activity going on.

Miller to LSU, TyTy to Arizona, and Jones to Memphis (who we didn't even attempt to go after) and we're left with a PG that turns it over a ton and can't shoot LOL

I don't really think Miller or TyTy are that big of losses if it turns out that way. Neither jumped out to me. Jones is probably more interesting but think we got a steadier player (and a better shooter) with Grady.

BUT if Sahvir Wheeler is who we actually end up with and Jackson jumps like he probably will, Kentucky doesn't appear to have a legitimate national championship contender type of roster. Not enough gamechangers unless some guys really improve this summer.

Tyty has risen sharply, he has huge potential to be a game changer. Jones would have been about the best PG transfer/recruit we could have gotten. Grady coming doesn't relate to what Jones could have been. He's an experienced PG with tons of game that is hungry to get to the next level and show out on the biggest stage in CBB. UK should have went in on him hard, I can only assume there was an underlying issue there that kept UK away (such as another program already having the solid inside track). But, Jones publicly showed interest but UK inexplicably did not. Can only hope Cal has an ace up his sleeve and/or Mintz returns.
