The hoarding of items is probably just as worrying as the virus.
Because cruelty is a virus too. We see this every Black Friday. I can only imagine what it's going to be like in two weeks, when most of us have been stuck at home and these items are even more scarce than they are now. We're going to see the dark underbelly of America, I imagine, the way we do in those videos that surface every holiday season.
My kids got daycare colds Friday that are gonna keep them home tomorrow with the real possibility that they’re gonna be home for a while. Work is gonna get disrupted completely if that happens.
Fortunately I have an understanding employer and a lot of flexibility, but a whole lot of people are gonna be in a bad way if that comes to pass.
People are in a place they've never been before. Worried, scared....doing what they think is the best, but likely causing more harm than good. Media, if it doesnt feed it, certainly reports it...and it is disturbing.
None of us are immune. Every sniffle I get from allergies, every cough my wife make clearing her throat....you wonder. Whether this virus has been with us for years as some say and we are just now focusing on it or it is some type of unforseen mutation really doesnt matter now....its the reactions that are (as Will has said) troubling.
When this passes.....and it will pass....perhaps we should re-examine our reactions. Those are what we are teaching our children and grandchildren.
Be civil, care for each other, protect the weakest, the most susceptible......
unless the toilet paper and bottled water are in your sights.
In the meantime, I anticipate school is out for the rest of the year. Small restaurants may never reopen. Some fast food establishments will shutter.....Taco Bell announced they will do drive through only.
I also anticipate that the nation will re-examine trade policy.....there is no reason other than greed that the United States relies on China for 80 percent of it's medicinal needs. Or any need. There will likely be a strengthening of
'American made'....however that doesnt happen overnight....it takes time to build factories and train people.
The new world order isn't quite what I anticipated.
Who else is bored stiff with no basketball to watch?????????????????????
If the weather were better I could handle it better. Got the chainsaw ready but it's awful muddy out. Cool, rainy, breezy weekend...I'd like some sports on the tube!
