Since he evidently is not NBA ready, he needs all the help he can get. He should be going to the college/university that can help him the most.

The thing is thought Tennessee just got undersized Grant Williams, a guy who was once thought to be an Ivy League player, into the first round.

Blackshear's game is very similar. He's bigger, but he plays a similar way.

If not for Williams I don't even think this is an issue. The way they used Williams--giving him any shot he wanted; playing him from different angles; letting him essentially attack at times like a guard--has to be enticing.

If not for Williams, this would be an easy decision if he indeed wants to transfer. Kentucky would be the only logical choice. But I tend to think they used Williams as the template when he visited Knoxville and that may have been a big deal.

I do not, however, think Kentucky is out of it. This sort of has all the hallmarks of somebody who legitimately doesn't know what he wants to do.

Since he appears to be having difficulty deciding, it wouldn't surprise me to see him end up back at Tech. This would be the most simple of his options, in my opinion.

I feel the same though it would be a really bad decision for his career--assuming he wants one after college.

He might not have been as invested in transferring as he once seemed and was in actuality just looking to see what was out there for him. He might be much more tied to Virginia Tech than people thought.

I can deal with him staying at VaTech. Seeing him play at Tennessee will drive me crazy.

I don't think anybody has a clue. This isn't a typical recruiting cycle. None of the recruiting guys have a real idea, they're just giving gut feelings. And nobody from the Blackshear camp (him and his dad) have spoken.

                Weirdest recruitment ever.

Someone else said he has now also said UK is still an option.

So it will be UK, Florida, UT or VT I guess? Anyone could “break” that news.

Eric Bossi, another person usually worth listening to, makes a guess because why not?

Says it's down to Kentucky, Tennessee, or Arkansas.

All this proves is that the only people who know anything about this are Kerry Blackshear and his father. And they probably don't know for sure, either.

So, everybody else is throwing crap at the wall, hoping it sticks.

Giving one's opinion is part of the entertainment factor as far as I'm concerned. If you're wrong, no one will remember that tomorrow and if you're right you can thump your chest and scream like a big gorilla.

Except I don't think it's an opinion for most of these experts. They really work to cultivate their sources just like any journalist.

There do seem to be some recruitments that are...odd for whatever reason. Either the family is extremely tight-lipped or they intentionally send out conflicting information or the player simply doesn't know what he wants to do, the experts end up being pretty worthless in those situations. This could be one of those.

I posted this on the other board but it's crossed my mind that Blackshear may be waiting for Tennessee to clear up their scholarship issue before he makes a decision.

Yeah. I'll bet there's at least one UT player who's pissed about the possibility of Blackshear becoming a teammate!

Tennessee basketball has landed the biggest transfer name on the market. Former Virginia Tech power forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. has committed to the Vols, picking
