If anything, I would think that Pitino will be under the watchful area of NCAA even more and will be more strict and conservative. That does not sound that fun to me. Pitino has turned into Tark the Shark reputation wise.

Maybe he goes to a smaller school like Fisher did and turns a program around. But I think it will be the right way. Rick does not want to go out as Rick the Prick.
John Wooden,, California Love lol lol

Well technically if you ask a mom or pop if they want there son to play for a coach who gets around they will say no but to the player, i am telling you it's not that big of a deal to most of these young players, it's just not, they could care less about that. Again, many of these young guys dream of the NBA so 1. they can get paid and 2. they can date whoever they want, that's part of the dream to most..

Well since we want to get all technical and argue about it just because i put it OUT THERE, i suggest some go out and buy a few DRAKE and JAY Z cd's.

Hmmm, wonder what kind of agenda they push with there music?

Do they get a free pass because they are artist? Well i though everyone was keeping it real now a days?

So Coach Cal and Kentucky isn't hiring hookers to recruit players but instead use high profile artist across the world who teach and preach money, woman, and everything else in between?

Like i said folks, some of these players could care less about who or what another man does in his personal life off the court......

Did he understand that this was a one season job when he took it? How much did he get paid?

I see Louisville has dismissed David Padgett---he did a decent job& they might have a hard time getting a top level coach considering the situation the Pitino mess left them in!!! Hope Padgett gets another gig some where & is successful!!!!!!

He made $800K for a 6 month contract. Not too shabby.

I'd guess so to your first question. Probably didn't have high expectations of getting the permanent gig, which he probably shouldn't have unless he just really overachieved this year.

He did likely work himself into getting an opportunity at a smaller school, though.

John Wooden has not coached for over 40 years! Times have changed and we have not seen a run similar to this until UCONN women's basketball.

The fact that Chris Mack hasn't come out and denied it is a telling sign he is probably coming. I'm guessing they'll wait until after these next rounds of games to announce him as the next coach

I've thought the same thing. Could be waiting to see how much Xavier is willing to offer him.

I see that Chris Mack has done a nice job at Xavier for several seasons now. And Xavier has been a nice springboard for coaches over the years. However, until Xavier had their run to a #1 seed this season I could not have told you who their coach was. So he is now one of the hot up-and-comers which would make him probably a great hire for a team in trouble. BUT if they have to make him the 3rd highest paid coach in the business to get him I'm not sure he's worth it. Say he comes in with a depleted roster and goes .500 for 3 years are they going to fire him and move on with another massive buyout or do they actually give him his 7 years and see what he's capable of?

Perhaps none of this really matters as there always seems to be plenty of money for coaches and facilities at UL regardless of what else is going on.

This is the weird thing. I've heard people say, "Well, at least there will no pressure." With as much as these guys make these days, there's always pressure. There was significant pressure on David Padgett. If they pay 7 million a year to Mack, there's going to be enormous pressure--even if the roster is depleted.

It could be though that he's reached the end of his run at Xavier. That was a veteran team that's also going to have to go through a bit of a re-build (but nothing like Louisville's) of their own. He may think the long-term pay-off will be better in the ACC than at Xavier. But I do think it'll be long-term. They won't compete in the upper half of that league for at least five years IMO, and this is assuming there aren't any more sanctions.

Evansville has hired former Cat Walter McCarty as its head coach.
