I do not want to see that happen, would hate to see him on the west coast recruiting. Of course us basketball traditionalist say "why would you play for Rick" with all that has gone on but the minds of the youth would actually think it's cool to play for a coach who likes to get around on the side with the ladies, they idolize that......

I stared at this for a good three minutes trying to think of some appropriate response. I'm going to go with this:

If true, then why didn't his trashy methods net more top-tier recruits? I can't remember who it was, but at least one recruit who was present for some of that said that he was turned off by it.

For one he never truly embraced the one and done system, he didn't change his philosophy. Now maybe some players or past recruit wasn't like that but i am willing to bet more than 90% of big time recruits are like that, not everyone is Derek Willis. I saw WCS in the hotel back in January walking to his room with 2 girls and the next day when the team bus left and before he got on, he was the last one on the bus because he was hugging and kissing another woman who wasn't the two girls that was with him going to his room lol lol lol lol,, this aint 1960 partner

This isn't 1960,i am sorry, these youth today are totally different, not all, but most. I remember Troy Smith of Louisville telling me he was trying to go Platinum, i asked him what he meant. He said he was trying to sleep with as many woman as he could. All i am saying is that if a coach likes to mix it up and get around on the side, i don't think these kids mind or pay to much attention to it unless you are Billy Gillispie and you are jumping into swimming pools naked and making a butt of yourself around town, just saying....

Ask yourself this. If Cal was single and not married but liked to play the field, you think the recruits coming in would mind? Maybe IDIOLIZE was the wrong word to use but these kids not worried about it....

I don't think it's the draw you've made it out to be. Despite what you may think, many of these players even at a young age have some semblance of moral standards. Sleazy is sleazy no matter how old you are; they can recognize that, and I can't imagine that it's appealing.

Not saying all players are like that but to also deny that it isn't real is a total out of touch perception of the reality in regards to the world we are living in, i don't like it either but it's the way it is....

The problem is the players aren't the only ones making the decision. They come in at 18, sometimes 17 years old. They might not care...but I would imagine some of the moms do.

However, my personal experience teaching at an urban university showed that often people from that background are very live-and-let-live. They may be conservative themselves but they're often way more forgiving of moral screw-ups than suburban folks.

I would say it's possible Cal has lost a few recruits because maybe he's too strict, he's too real on how he sells it. He doesn't promise the world, he says the things that needs to be said but everybody else is afraid to say it.

Getting recruits because you are a scum bag and womanizer? Not sure what coaches you could reference that have multiple championships in basketball that use this technique. The kids do have parents that most want a coach to teach them further about life. Coach Cal, Coach K, Roy Williams don't seem to fit in that category.

If anything, I would think that Pitino will be under the watchful area of NCAA even more and will be more strict and conservative. That does not sound that fun to me. Pitino has turned into Tark the Shark reputation wise.

Maybe he goes to a smaller school like Fisher did and turns a program around. But I think it will be the right way. Rick does not want to go out as Rick the Prick.

Regardless of how youngsters feel do or not do, i actually think Rick is not guilty of the pay for play deal (perhaps Jurich and Adidas yes) or would have risked everything by knowingly paying a particular hooker to set up dates for his incoming recruits. Let's be honest, like New York or not, , Rick is from New York and his street smarts are smarter than that, they just are. I actually think his ego works in his favor in regards to all that because he believes he can take a normal kid and coach him into a great player, he just believes that in himself.

Best thing Louisville could have done was getting Jurich out of there but it's going to be hard to replace Rick Pitino no matter who they hire, Rick is still a great coach...
