Cal wasn't squirming. Frustrated, somber, even disappointed perhaps. But he immediately got bombarded with questions the media knew he could or would not answer. Especially after Peevey, just 2 minutes earlier, told all in the room that there was no additional information. None. And if you are not asking questions about the Missouri game, then let him get back to practice.

It was certainly a bad mood presser.

Well, I did not get a good feeling at all after watching the presser. Agreed, I would not have expected Cal to say much, but, to me -- and I certainly could be wrong -- he seemed particularly evasive and just plain uncomfortable. To me, it was not so much what he said or did not say, but his demeanor. Late in the presser he said that he just got done working out and that is why he was sweating, and that is likely true. But, the entire event, even before Cal stood before the mics, seemed to me to be unusually adversarial.

Maybe there's nothing to say. Or maybe they don't want to say anything until further information comes out.

Your posts in this thread have been of the crazzed variety, it seems, Downes. I'm not saying that today's news is not concerning on a number of levels, but it's certainly not end of the world stuff, either. I didn't expect Cal to say anything more than he said in this presser.
Because there's obviously something to talk about, and he dodged it. Maybe I chose the wrong verb, but my point stands.

I'm less Crazzed and more realist. We're all posing these tidy little theories that put our team in the best possible situation, but at the end of the day it appears as though we may have been busted for something - with evidence from the FBI, no less. That isn't Thamel or Forde or Tipton we're talking about. It's the FBI, and they've built up a little bit of credibility over the years.

I hope you're all right and the NCAA will put their bottom line above all else, but they might not. I'm not going to lose sleep over this, but I'm not going to sit here and act like this is nothing, either.

This isn't good, and we might actually be in some trouble.

If this is All there is, we aren't going to be in much trouble. I don't think vacating two unremarkable seasons is that big a deal in light of the total scale of the scandal. If there were some info that tied agents and shoe companies directly to UK or coaching staff, then I would be worried.

Exactly. Although, I'd argue that any Elite Eight/SEC regular season and tourney championship season is a bit more than an "unremarkable" season.

I will put on the panic hat when any of this is directly connected to Cal or Kentucky. At that point, I'll be first in line with pitchforks, demanding answers. Until then, it sounds like the evidence of what we all knew existed anyway: shady agents, impressionable kids and their families, way too much money.

LOL! Such is the perspective of a long time Kentucky basketball fan... That seems average or normal to me.

Unless more comes out that links our coaches directly to it, "we" haven't been busted for anything...

I know it sounds convenient, but from statements and articles and quotes now coming out, I'm more inclined to believe someone around Bam was paid to influence his decision. I think, at this point, that it is more likely no penalty is handed out to UK in the matter.

                    I'm not worried.

If Knox plays tomorrow, then we're good. If he develops some "minor medical issue" that gets him out of the lineup as a precaution, then we can reasonably expect that the worst is yet to come.

Based on the evidence provided by the article this morning, we are right. Kentucky and John Calipari have done nothing wrong. Are we at risk for vacating games? Perhaps. Again, it's disappointing, but not surprising, and certainly not apocalyptic stuff.

Meanwhile, reports have come out that Duke has already cleared Wendell Carter with the NCAA to play tomorrow. I'm sure that Kentucky has done the same thing, if that's the case.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I've gathered:

Some agent supposedly bought Knox and his dad lunch

Some agent supposedly gave Nerlens some money two years after he left school

Some agent supposedly gave someone who could influence Bam some money (roughly 40 grand) to go to NC State with Dennis Smith Jr, which didn't happen.

Knox can pay back the money and be fine?

Nerlens, if it happened after his time at UK, is a non issue.

Bam would technically be an ineligible player because if his family got that money he would've lost his amateur status. But, what if it wasn't given to a family member? Maybe a friend or coach?

yep, that about sums it up lol yes, if Bam or a member of his family (not sure how far that extends out in the family) did not receive any $$, then Bam and UK are fine

All he has to do is pay back the money which is less than $200. Maybe a game or so suspension? Not sure about that but I don't know. The Nerlens deal is a non issue given the fact that the guy WAS his agent after UK. The Bam scenario is a tad concerning. We may lose all those games from last year. Lonzo Ball wins!!! Lol...

                              Color me not worried.

I didn't see the presser, and someone mentioned Cal was ganged up on by reporters asking questions about what they had already been told there were no answers to at this time. I don't know about the rest of you, but to me these reporters push themselves on whomever is conducting a presser no matter what, and I would ignore them for as long as I could, then leave.
