I won't worry about Cal being involved until I see his name listed on an official document.

Doesn’t sound like Pitino is going softly into that good night.

Pitino is such a piece of crap. I cannot stand him. Anything good he did at UK was erased long ago. He is an awful person who deserves everything bad that comes his way

What a dishonest, shameless piece of human excrement.

Oh well, doesn't matter. His goose is cooked and he'll be gone tomorrow morning.

Expect him to be clean (relatively; I'm of the mind that the entire game is relatively dirty all the way around) and then if he's not, don't spin it. Call for his firing. Everything should be above board.
BINGO! Absolutely agree. I'm tired of hearing the lame excuse, "Everyone is doing it. We had to just to be competitive". It's CHEATING for gawd's sake!

If WE are paying for players, we should shut it down. Louisville is guilty of not only trying to pay...actually according to the docs they did and money has changed hands....they are guilty of gross incompetence.
pitinos protestations make you wonder when does the phrase lack of institutional control kick in?????

How many things can one head coach swear he knew nothing about and still get paid?

Well there's my answer. Mr. Pitino says a few bad actors have tried to bring fraud upon the universities and their basketball programs.

This is much welcomed news to cardinal nation on a previously worrisome day. The FBI, Jurich and Pitino are going to feverishly seek justice for the perpetrators who have done them wrong.

The interim President at UL is in the running for the permanent job, so I doubt he will be as easy to fool around with as Ramsay was. If he gets caught with egg on his face, he won't survive this mess either.

You may well be right Lighthouse. However when dealing with UofL I cannot help but wonder if he could survive being the guy who brought an end to the Jurich/Pitino "glory days.". These people REALLY want to be players on the national scene.

Appearances to the rest of the world have not been a factor in their approach to getting where they want to be.

Yes I am cynical but I feel they have earned my cynicism.

In reference to poster #117 about the shipping envelope POPPING OPEN--- I have received several of those over the years with misc merchandise in them-- they do not pop open- you have to put major pulling to get one open or employ a razor type knife to open it!!!!!!!

This investigation by the FBI isn't over. When you read Kim's statements at the end yesterday he throws out a warning to others to basically come forward with information now and don't make us come and get you. That was a pretty stern warning. Basically they could uncover anything at this point. Sounds like they have others in their sight but are just getting their ducks lined up in order to charge them. I hope this doesn't come to UK but you never what path this will lead the Feds on.
This is a very bad day for college basketball. I have no idea where this could ultimately lead it but there will be many ramifications that come from this. Also the NCAA could be turned upside down. They have at the very least a face full of egg on it with the Feds uncovering all this while they sat on their keisters for years and most likely ignored it all.

“This is a very bad day for college basketball.”

With great respect, I could not disagree more. On this site and throughout the existence of “amateur sport” there have always been debates about how non-professional athletics somehow meant more, was fueled by a spirit of competition, or otherwise presented a level of purity unfounded in the professional ranks wherein participants simply were mercenaries.

Some of those same people alleged that our program realigned wth “might as well be pro tactics” by catering to the path of sports serving as a career. How pure. How kind and entertaining.

This will serve only as the latest reminder that it’s always been devoid of “amateurism”. Just the same as your 40’s and 50’s high school stars were paid, they still are today. Sometimes we on this board have thought that the cheating now might not be so blatant due to technology...weren’t we wrong???

i think it’s a great day for college sport if you value amateurism any at all. The truth is that many people do not and never have

                                YES you should be fired
