I doubt if you spoke to many blacks they would agree that racism should be universally rejected. The problem--and I can only speak for me personally--is when racism becomes a reason for any of life's problems. The same could go for women, or really any minority: if you begin to feel like all your issues are due to sexism or some other kind of -ism, then IMO that should be universally rejected.

But I have racists in my family right now. In 2015. I know they're racist because they've told me they are. I've heard them say things. I refuse to reject that racism is a thing when I actually see it happening.
I know trans people who can blame many of their life issues on an -ism. Just saying.

Had I been in charge, I would have pointed out to the football players that they had signed scholarship papers to play for the University and if they chose not to play then they would forfeit their scholarship.

BTW - much, if not all, of this can be attributed to bad or lack of parenting (ie. giving in to toddler temper tantrums), the breakdown of the family unit, helicopter parenting, everyone gets a trophy philosophy, public educations' failure in teaching critical thinking and yes - political correctness run amok.

And you would have lost half your team. Pinkel did the right thing and he will win more games than if he hadn't.

It appears, to me, they've been lost anyway. If they were not going to play, unless they got their way, they're out of control.

They should be "in control"? That's messed up.

They should have to answer to the coaches and school officials. Unless, of course, you favor the inmates running the asylum.

Inmates? Because they are black? Maybe you shouldn't be typing about this....

I assumed you had heard that saying before, but I guess not. It has nothing to do with skin color.

No hidden meaning, on my part. I simply meant I feel college players should be answerable to their superiors, and by superiors I don't just mean their coaches. Unless, of course, one feels it's ok to have a situation where subordinates aren't answerable to their superiors unless they want to be.

How big is this in recruiting and motivation for Pinkel? I think it increases both significantly. The superior wins. Says a lot that they told him first what they were going to do, too. They had the conception that he could go with it. Says a lot about his fairness, earning his superiority as a coach....

I doubt the entire team was on board with this. If not how do you think this will affect team harmony?

The entire team was most definitely NOT on board with all of this.
