No. The backlash agaist a bunch of WAY TO SENSITIVE black men here is appropriate. This isn't the 60's. My family never owned slaves. I'd bet the farm Mizzous President didn't either. Guess what John? ALL LIVES MATTER!!!! And this really isn't even just a black thing anymore. God forbid I offend you or anybody else. I'm sorry some folks were born without or was taught to have any form of backbone. How hard is that to get through to your brain? Or anyone elses for that matter? And for the record, that's not who I am. I treat others as I would want to be treated and I'd gamble it all that the majority of America feels the same. Unfortunately with social media these days, opinions are expressed in real time. For all the world to see and hear. The very thing thing that was supposed to draw us nearer to each other has went the opposite way and is tearing us apart at an alarming rate. Of course there are bad folk out there. But guess what John? There are bad folk of every creed and nationality. Always has been and always will. WOW! This Country used to be the best. No wonder we're laughed at and ridiculed now. Someone done went and castrated us. God help this Nation when I'm old and gray. These same millenial whiners will be running the show. God help us all.Isaiah 5:20👍 4Comment

It was an awful post, in my opinion.
People don't understand blacklivesmatter at all. It's like saying "save the whales". That doesn't mean don't save the manatees, dolphins, and everything else BP poisons.1 PhotoComment

Getting back to the football issue, what happened at Missouri is kind of shocking. They were making the point on the radio yesterday about what happens if the teams in the Final Four decide to just not play? What happens if entire conferences band together and take a stand against something? What would happen if the black players of SEC football teams just decided they weren't going to take the field on a random Saturday?
The power that these athletes have is kind of amazing, and really they haven't tried too many things in the past that would suggest they understand how much power they have. Yesterday could have been the start of something that changes the fundamental shape of the NCAA.Comment

Will is right if the players at the big time schools banded together they could get just about anything they wanted. They in the end have the power. They are the ones that go out and perform. Sure you could take out the betters ones and just have try outs from the student body. But how many would actually watch then?Kentucky fan since 1971.Comment

I don't know how anyone can think it is a good thing that the coaching staff supported the students and protested with them. As an administrator, I would fire the whole coaching staff at season's end and make sure the ring leaders of the revolt that were members of the football team were run off and their schollies pulled. I don't usually root against teams, but it would not sadden me if the Missouri team lost the rest of their games. I could tell you who I believe is behind this whole mess, but that rant would belong on a political board.Comment

My perception is that the vast majority of folks are not opposed to the general proposition that "black lives matter". What bothers me, and I suspect many others, is when proponents of "black lives matter" reject the more inclusive, "All Lives Matter".👍 2Comment

To me, incidents like this give a greater self-inflated sense of worth. They're about to enter the real world, odds are they're going to get turned down for several applications/interviews, hopefully incidents like this dont automatically go into race as the reason. Because they're in for a rude awakening. Personally, if I was a hiring manager and I googled them and seen their name involved (all qualifications being equal) I would pick another applicant. That's not based on race but their actions. I agree the President should have addressed it in a more serious manner, do I think he resignation is a fair punishment? No. Do I think his inactions or the actions of a few racist students is emblematic of a system-wide racist culture at Mizzou? I don't know. But, I think they have their inroad and while they have the spotlight will try and get everything they can. The University should maintain their practices by maintaining a moral high-ground rather than being bullied by groups of people who rather see faculty hired based on color of skin rather than qualifications. If Mizzou has hired whites over blacks despite the black applicant then shame on them but I don't think the opposite end of that spectrum solves anything based on being equal for all but I don't think they're looking for equality but retribution.Last edited by UK39; 11-10-2015, 10:29 AM.Comment

The bad thing is, this isnt about something the president did. He has done nothing wrong. Its the perception that he didnt do enough about other students who made racial comments or had racially motivated actions. This was really unfair to this man. As far as white people discussing black issues. I wonder how Wolfe feels about that. No president or dean of a school can control the thought process of others. I was ok with Black lives matter until certain politicians were booed for saying all lives mattered. I could go on all day about this stuff but I really dont want to offend anyone (maybe too late) There is very little intellectual honesty when talking about racial issues, only great effort in saying what is expected of you.Comment
