I agree although its more common to play for overtime. Basically it comes down to what you think your odds of picking up 3 yds on one play are. You figure with overtime its basically 50-50 before the coin toss. First team with the ball has an advantage but before you choose whether to go for 2 or play for overtime you don't know who will win the toss. Plus you have to hit your PAT 1st and that's assumed but isn't 100%. So at the time Stoops decided to go for 2 he just surmised he had better than 50% chance of success and it didn't pan out.
Post 188 said now you have no chance, in OT you would have had a chance. That's pretty easy call after the unsuccessful attempt but moments before--when the decision was being made--we certainly had a chance of success on the play.
Not saying it was the right call, but it wasn't a stupid call.
