I enjoy spring Turkey hunting and Waterfowl hunting. Deer hunting is waaay too boring for me, if I do go its for a few hours in the evening.
But there is nothing better than chasing a Gobbler or having birds dive into your decoy spread. This was a tough spring in Missouri for turkey hunting but I was lucky enough to land one.

I also enjoy golf, but it seems to end up being more about drinking cold ones that actually golfing.

Talked myself out of it...and into the 18" M1A, called the "Scout Squad".

I mention that to post this as a reminder: if you go to purchase a gun, make sure that your driver's license is up to date and that the listed address is the same as your current physical address. Bud's in Lexington had an M1A with the wood stock, and today I went to look it over and purchase it. Well, my driver's license expires this coming January, but the address has been wrong for quite some time. They were not able to complete the sale until I update that information.

The silver lining in this is that Lexington's only 2 hours away. About 15 years ago my Dad and I drove to Findlay, Ohio to a store called Jaqua's in order to purchase my Citori Ultra XT, only to discover that his driver's license had been expired for a while. So that was 10+ hours of driving wasted... You might say today was a bit of "welcome" Deja Vu, in a twisted sense.

So one of these days I'll get around to shooting this thing and we'll see whether I can hit the broad side of the proverbial barn. Or not.

Got to shoot the stubby beast this morning, albeit only 5 rounds.

Findings: Rex the dog hates the muzzle brake. Recoil was hardly there, akin to my 1100 20 gauge shooting low brass loads. Trigger's nice now, ought to smooth out even more. 20 round magazine fed 5 rounds like it was already broken in. It's not as loud as I feared it might be. Balance is awesome. First shot was a center of Cola Can hit.

I like it. Aw like it veddy, veddy much.

Speaking of stubby beasts, check out what the old Marshal keeps around the house for home protection.

^ MD, a couple weeks ago I saw an old friend who is big into Schofields and the like, which made me think of ya. I hadn't seen him in about 10 years, and he was happy to know that I had bought a 1911 a few years ago.

Schofields are really cool pistols, in my opinion. According to western lore, they were the guns of choice of Jesse James, Bob Ford, John Wesley Hardin and Billy The Kid among others. When talking about old west pistols, most people think of Colt, not Smith & Wesson.

I'm sure cost, availability, and chamberings all factored in...but at the end of the day fit, finish, and aesthetics must be accounted for as well. Sometimes you know what you like when you first look at it.

                      Nice!

This is the night stand gun for me. (although mine is the variant 1, DA/SA with a safety / de-****************ing lever)

Nice pistol there Spirit. I carry a Springfield xd40 sub compact daily. Eats anything I feed it and is the most reliable pistol I have ever had.

I carried the USPc for years but ultimately went thinner. If I had a do over, I would have purchased the 9mm....

Is the xd sub-compact the XDS? It's nice, sweet trigger. I shot an XD compact a while back and was really impressed.

My carry gun is an HK P7.

Size and ergonomics wise it is perfect; but it has one or two design flaws that have me considering a change. I purchased an M&P shield; but I haven't gotten enough trigger time to declare it my new go to.

I carry a compact M&P .40. It is bigger than most people like to carry, but I am 6'4 230 so I can carry it on my waist band and keep it concealed.
