    2017 Recruit Watch

Since Cal's busy on the 2017 recruiting trail I thought it'd be a good time to take a closer look at the guys he's offered.

Thus far, we have:*247 Sports' "Crystal Ball" predictions as of 3/24/17.

I really want Ayton and/or Carter, those two are beasts. I wouldn't complain if we landed everyone that the crystal ball says as of today though.

Cal knows there is going to be a mass exodus after this season and he better make a haul in this recruiting class.

It's worth mentioning that most, if not all, of those crystal ball predictions mean next to nothing right now. There are some exceptions (Petty), but there are also guys who were offered as recently as today. No way the recruiting services have an accurate handle on who's going where at this point.

It appears the 2016 class is closed, barring some kind of crazy turn of events with Jarrett Allen.

So let's move on to 2017.

          Top 5 recruit Michael Porter Jr. just cut his list to 5 schools and we didn't make the cut, pretty interesting top 5 actually;
IU, Mizzou, OU, UVA, and Washington. He played his first three years of high school in Columbia, MO, but now his dad has been hired as an assistant
coach at Washington so they are currently the favorite. He was being recruited by just about every big name team. I'm rooting for Mizzou to land him.

Thanks for merging this thread Downes.

Other news, Wendell Carter and Gary Trent Jr. are both top 10 recruits for 2017 and have reiterated numerous times they plan on playing basketball in school together and are both heavy Duke leans but both have UK offers. Long way to go but Cal has an uphill climb with these two.

^^^^ Dang! I was hoping they wouldn't be lookin at a "package deal" Oh well, more than likely Blue Devils will land them both...I really wanted Carter out of the 2017 prospects

I think Trae Young, John Petty, and Nick Richards will end up signing with us. I think Vanderbilt is leaning towards us also.

I think Ayton is the best talent in this class, size and shooting ability is amazing, I think at the end he will be the #1 recruit when it's all said and done.

I don't know if y'all been hearing the rumors but I've also heard the buzz around the EYBL circuit that Ayton probably gonna do a "Thon Maker" so he's not being heavily recruited...and there are several articles out there discussing the same thing, BUT lets hope he doesn't and we get him especially if we don't land Carter. Carter is about education, very smart kid and his grades show it (Harvard even wants him!) so it won't surprise me if he goes the Duke route...

Kansas is the only team recruiting Ayton at the moment. There's clearly something off about the kid.

Also Michael Porter. I saw none of the big boys,UK,Kansas,Duke or UNC,were recruiting him at the moment.

That has to be because of his dad and Washington.

With Ayton there's definitely something weird going along. When I first heard about him last year sometime people were talking about him as maybe the biggest talent to ever come through high school since these rankings were in place. And that's including guys like LeBron.

Then nothing. Nobody recruits him. No interest except for maybe Kansas.

Really weird and there has to be something to it.

Yeah. That's the Washington situation, no doubt. Which sucks, too, because before his dad was hired there he looked like a real possibility for us - maybe as a package deal with Trae Young. I rarely put stock in the package deal thing, though. Just never seems to work out.

However, it might for Washington in this case. Young's interested in them, too, I believe. But, they're also Washington. We've seen them wind up on the short end of the stick more often than not, so I won't believe their fortune's that good until I see it.

I agree, this kid was supposed to be the next big thing and then everyone stopped recruiting him. He's been quoted as saying he is going to play college ball and that Kansas is the only team recruiting him. There is something weird going on with this kid, but with that said he is a man among boys.
