Hope Quade stays even if he's relegated to a 3 point sniper. I doubt that's his dream but if he can't play his way onto the court over younger guys I hope he'll accept a role that helps the team.

      Hope he sticks it out.
You think we'll miss Killeya-Jones more than Quade Green?

What? This team badly--like BADLY--needs shot-makers. It has guys in the post.

If you lose Green then that's an incredibly valuable piece. You can't win in this game without consistent outside shooters, and I think Green can be that. We have bodies.

Killeya-Jones hurts more on a symbolic level. That guy doesn't get on the court if we return who we should.

        I've had this thought.

It seems like if you're trying to hack the college game, you start with a point guard who's a killer...but who isn't an NBA prospect.

I do think a John Wall type can lead a team to a title. Tyus Jones did it for Duke and he was high-level but not a phenom. So it can happen.

But I kind of agree with you. If you look at these recent Villanova and North Carolina runs, they've sort of been spearheaded by veteran point guards. Kansas has done what they've done in the last 10 or so years on the back of rock-solid vet lead guards.

Don't think Green's future is at the point. He can play 2 guard.

Has to be able to score through contact better. Just wasn't strong enough last year. But mostly you have to have guys who can make three-point shots. Last year we didn't have enough of them, and if you look at this roster shaping up--particularly if Wenyen leaves--you see a real lack of outside shooting ability. That's why you badly need a guy who can go out there and knock down some shots to open up what should be a formidable front line.

Hagans, Quickley, Green, Diallo, Herro, Johnson, Baker just doesn’t work for the 1/2 guards. Way too many guys.

Diallo likely fone but i assume at least one of the others is not at UK next season.

Keldon Johnson will play the 3.

Think he also will go with a three-guard line-up at times to work Herro in with Green and the point guard.

That doesn't seem like too many to me. Not much difference between the 2 and 3 except defensively. Johnson should be able to guard stout, athletic wings. Think we'll go smaller if teams pack it in.

Not sure Baker plays as I think Herro just drills him on that remaining playing time.

Looks pretty normal from where I'm sitting.

Reading the tea leaves, it's quite obvious that Hami Diallo will not be on the roster.

Hagans, Montgomery, Herro, Quickley, Johnson, Vanderbilt, Washington, Green, Richards, Baker. With Gabriel as the 50/50.

Either way, I'll take that roster.

Kyle Tucker hinting that he thinks Kentucky adds TWO more players for next year.

I wanna see a 4 guard small ball lineup next year.

If you read around at what the experts are saying, it also appears that Hagans is the stud of that group.

If that's true (and if the reclassification works), then Quickley may be brought along more slowly. Because Cal has shown that he doesn't take his Foxes/Ulises/Knights/Walls off the court much. If Hagans is cut from that cloth then Quickley will have to get the scraps.

I think Herro is going to have a little dog in him and is going to demand quite a bit of playing time.

And Johnson is obviously a cut above.

So while you've got these other guys, some are going to be relegated to role/spot time. That's not a negative at all. Those guys are going to have to fight. I'd love Quade to come back to have him fight with Tyler Herro for minutes. Throw Quickley in there and see if Baker can push guys out by hitting shots. That's how you build a solid team. Kids have to fight.

But Cal will go the Coach K route, as he should, and keep the rotation short once it all shakes out. Villanova was mauling people this past season and playing six players.

He did say "One high school, one grad transfer, if they need the latter."

Tucker has always been at least a little in the camp that believes James Wiseman will reclassify, so I expect that's who the high schooler is.

                        That would completely alter expectations.

Jones has been saying this for three weeks.

Kind of understandable. Quade was a point guard in high school. Wants to play point guard. Could maybe be a decent point guard in time.

But only decent. Just doesn't have that necessary burst you have to have at this level. Can do some other things though that could really help UK.

We're going to be guard-heavy, and I think the competency at the 1 and 2 will be higher overall than at the front court positions. As I've said numerous times, I don't think Quade's that good, nor do I think his shot is as reliable as it's made out to be. Hard to see him making a tremendous leap between last season and next, especially if there's a crowd at his position and not a lot of time for him to improve in game situations.

At least with SKJ you'd have a guy who's been there and was on an upward trajectory by season's end. I'd like to think that's momentum he could've carried over into next season.

Quade's final game sucked. His last moment was one of the worst shots I've ever seen.

I want him to stick around with an eye toward his junior and senior years, but I'm not going to be broken up if he leaves.

Personally I think Herro will be the surprise of these recruits. Most of us know only that he can shoot, but somehow I feel he will contribute in other ways. And even with all the guards, I believe Quade will be very important next year, if he stays.
