If Maxey reclassifies and picks the Cats, it's highly likely our "elder" Quade Green transfers....just too many aspiring point guards. And if that happens, we'd have 2 high school seniors and 2 college freshmen running the most challenging position on the court. Their youth would concern me greatly.

Maxey definitely. Won't turn 18 until November. Not sure about a guard that young, although it never hurt Booker. I agree with you that point guard is different, but maybe he sees Maxey as having two-guard potential. If Maxey reclassifies and picks the Cats, it's highly likely our "elder" Quade Green transfers....just too many aspiring point guards. Hagans will be 19 when he plays his first games, the age of a normal sophomore. Not as much of a deal with him.
Think Quade has probably made his decision to leave, which is disappointing. But then again I know nothing about Maxey.Comment

So possibly Cal has to make a decision about keeping a Sophomore-to-be, or bring in a high profile and young freshman.John 3:3

Tyrese Maxey's father is no longer on the staff at SMU. Maxey's commitment to UK seems imminent. Only question is what class he's going to be in.

If Maxey stays in his current class and that means we keep Quade, do you take that trade?Tyrese Maxey's father is no longer on the staff at SMU. Maxey's commitment to UK seems imminent. Only question is what class he's going to be in.

Really hard to say. Maxey could be a phenom. I don't know enough about him.
His age does worry me if he reclassifies. It could be that Cal believes that Quade's footspeed will always be a problem.
It could also be that this is all about getting a start on 2019.Comment

Someone (T.J. Walker, I think) compared him to Brandon Knight. I can see that, though Maxey seems to have more of a proclivity for playing above the rim.
Appears to have pretty good instincts on defense, too.Comment

By all accounts, Maxey is a great shooter, too. Hypothetically, if he's more or less equal to Quade in terms of shooting, then better in every other facet of the game, then why not take him instead? We're only talking about a difference of a year's experience, and Quade really didn't play that much.Comment
