I'm @WillLavender. I'm a terrible follow and never post about basketball. In fact I don't post anything period. Mostly because I'm always here.

I do love reading Twitter and find it the best social media platform. Instant access to news...but I've had to really tailor my followers list to not get Facebook-y sort of things on my timeline.

On edit: recruiting, like politics, is an area where you have to be really careful who you follow. Some guys don't know s___t about s___t. But they will have convinced other people that they do, and they'll tweet with such definite certainty that they can be highly deceiving.

There are some guys over on Rivals who are seen as insiders who, frankly, are not. I followed some of these guys for a time on Twitter. They're morons.

You are right about that. You have to really filter your follows and understand you're looking through the hyperbolic lens of Twitter. It is by far the best platform for news (if you follow the right accounts) and instant communication and exchange. 140 characters is many times not quite enough however, as anyone who's ever gotten into a debate or discussion on there before understands.

Kid grew something like ten inches over the last year. Cal might feel like he has an in on somebody no one else knows about.

Those kind of gambles rarely pay off...but there is going to be room for the kid even if Cal lands his top four guys.

That tells me UK is in a very good position.

Matt Jones says there might be some "huge basketball recruiting news" coming this weekend.

Have to think if there's anything to that then it means Quickley is a Cat.

The way Drew Franklin spoke in his post, I'm sort of wondering if it's someone other than Quickley. His commitment would be big news, of course, but at this point it's so expected that it seems too obvious for such a huge build up.

I've seen Zion Williamson billed as being one of the most exciting SF's to come around in a while and that had me wondering: is he as impressive as a Julius Randle? I think it's easy to forget just how huge the big 3 or 4 PF's in that class were, and they had some big showdowns on the AAU circuit. Randle at times looked like he could have been a poor man's Lebron James. How does Zion compare to somebody with whom we're familiar such as Julius Randle.

Best comparison I can think of is Larry Johnson. Freak athlete, power, some finesse, not a great outside shot, huge motor, agility, and a little attitude.

Immanuel Quickley will announce tomorrow. Cal should have his first commit of 2018.

Cats are also no longer in the running for Simi Shittu. Seen a bunch on RR that Shittu and Barrett were never going to play on the same team. Don't know why that would be since they play different positions. If those rumors are true however, you have to think that Cal feels really good about Barrett.

Apparently they just don't like each other for whatever reason....but, yeah, Cal does feel really good about Barrett.

Really happy to get Quickley but I'm not sure signing a guy who everyone thought was a lock for UK is "brace yourselves" type news. Maybe there is something else coming as well???
