I have been away for awhile and catching up, but I feel Momcilovic is a guy who can win us a few extra games, maybe increase our seed line by one or two, and more importantly help keep the Cats playing late in the NCAAT. I think that is worth the money, and Pope needs some type of big recruitment win. Any donor who was willing to throw big $ at Stokes, should be just as willing to throw some $ at Momcilovic.

As a long time fan I find myself rapidly losing interest in college athletics. Times change but the " pay to play" era leaves me cold. I read a piece on the new college athletics bill just introduced to Congress and I hope it might help, but I am not holding my breath it will pass. Is Mom worth 6 million dollars, he's worth whatever someone will pay him, at least to them. When things like tradition ,loyalty, love of team and school give way to strictly cash it makes one question why even care, something I NEVER thought I would hear myself say.

I think we'll know by Mon. at the latest and I feel confident he'll be a Wildcat (UK Wildcat that is).

You feel that confident? I hope you're right. Would sure increase my hope for next year.

I never cared about guys getting paid, everyone else involved with the sport gets paid millions and millions, so, no cares about the actual players getting their piece. I would like to see this unlimited free agency go away, though. If they can get to the 5 year rule, with a one time transfer (use it wisely) then I think it would cut down on so many guys coming and going- seeing guys on their 4th, 5th, 6th team is insane.

I think players should get a piece of the revenue that they're responsible for generating. I don't like that there seems to be very little structure around it. You're right. It's free agency. I don't mind the one time transfer rule. I'd be in favor of putting a stipulation on a player that if you commit, you sign a contract and are locked in for a 2 year minimum (unless it is to leave for the respective professional league).

I like the idea of a two-year requirement before being eligible to transfer, and then a one-time transfer ability without having to sit out a year (like it used to be). If you want to allow them to transfer a second time, fine.....but they will be required to sit out a year unpaid in order to do so.

And now Norlander is saying that St. John's is OUT of the Milan Momcilovic sweepstakes....so there's that.

UK really seems like the best fit for Momcilovic, but I won't get any hopes up until he officially announces.

Latest rumor is it is down to UK and UofL, with UK in the lead.

Rumor has it he has been offered over 7 million.

Also rumored that Stokes left 7 million on the table when he picked KU over UK.

                        Coincidence?

If he is serious about being a contender, then he should compare what Kelsey and Pope have done in two years at their respective schools in the NCAA tourney.

Kelsey: 1-2, 2nd round, highest seed beaten- 11, worst seed loss- 9
Pope: 3-2, Sweet Sixteen, highest seed beaten- 6, worst seed loss- 3. Pope has not lost to a lower seed since coming to UK.

Neither coach has proven to be much of a contender, but Pope has the better tourney resume. Pope has three times as many wins in the tourney as Kelsey.

One guy can make a massive difference especially in basketball. Even in football. If you land a top 5 QB he can take a 4-8 team and turn ot into a 8 win or more team.

I feel like Momcilovic is the perfect fit for this team.

Diallo and Wilkins can drive, score, and dish. Both have the length and quickness to be disruptive defenders on the perimeter.

Kam can shoot and plays good D. He isn’t going to demand the ball, he will just make open shots. He can defend the 1-4 spots.

Moreno is going to play hard, defend, rebound, pass the ball, and score inside. He needs to work on improving his post moves. He should demand some attention inside.

Momcilovic fits in as the go to guy. He’s the definition of a sniper, he can shoot from anywhere. His defense and rebounding might not set the world on fire, but his shooting and scoring compensates for that.

I think that’s the starting five. Diallo and Wilkins are interchangeable at the 1 and 2. Kam and Mom are interchangeable at the 3 and 4. Moreno anchors the middle. Slashers at guard, shooters at forward, and a rising star 7 footer at the 5. Could end up being one of the best starting fives in the country. 294 D1 games played and 252 D1 starts between those five. (Note: Momcilovic has 102 games played and 101 starts just by himself).

And good experience on the bench: McBride, Morton, and Kepnang have 291 D1 games played and 130 D1 starts between those three.

Five guys have P5 experience (Diallo, Momcilovic, Williams, Moreno, and Kepnang). All of those guys have started in a power conference at some point.

That’s a lot of experience for your top 8.
