Tons of rumors and speculation out there . Here's what is a known. 36 of the top 50 ranked portal players are GONE. 5 of the top 10 are still available and so far as I can tell we aren't really in with any of them. I watch fans wringing their hands over wether we get the 46th ranked guy. How does that type of lineup legitimately compete for a National Title. I know rankings aren't everything but does anyone who's being honest really believe the kind of talent we are getting is going to get it done. We are in a mess here and I haven't got a clue how we are going to get out of it. Speaking of mess WHY is nobody talking about the lack of a new AD and the absolute crickets you here from UK about filling it.

Need Wilkins and Cox to go with Diallo and Mason Williams. That would be as good of a backcourt as we could ask for at this point.

Add Stokes, Rancik, and Devin Williams to the front court and we are pretty solid.

That’s one superstar and a bunch of solid role players.

Offense will run through Stokes and we will go as far as he can pack us.

I don't know why, but I never was as big on him as many in our fan base were. Nice player, but not one I'll lose sleep over. Next.

Fun fact:

Kobe Brea turned down UConn in favor of Kentucky. Worked out pretty well for him. Had a great season, beat the likes of Florida & Duke (two Final 4 teams), and advanced to a Sweet 16. UConn only made the round of 32 that year. Not to mention Brea got drafted.

It's funny to see a UK fan (not you, talking about the other guy) throw on his cape & come to the rescue for UConn. That's good comedy, this forum gets better every day.

Didn't Andrew Carr turn down UCONN as well? I know he left Lexington and visited some school in the Northeast.....

If I'm totally honest....I kind of agree with you.

I have watched videos of him, and truthfully...felt a bit underwhelmed. Nice player.... would like to have him...but I kinda see him more as a nice piece more so than a difference maker.

And just now....I watched a video from Sleepers Media (who I'm not a big fan of, especially Carter) and the other guy mentioned Freeman's shooting stats... and they were not impressive. Actually, they were rather putrid. Carter even mentioned that he's never seen Donnie Freeman pass (LOL).

Here's the video. I'd still like to have him, but If we miss on him, I won't be as disappointed as I was with Wright.

Doesn't sound it will be a huge miss when you put it like that, plus the injury concern. But like you said I'd still be good with taking him as long as he isn't grossly overpaid.

D***head Fans on rhe UConn board couldn't be any more confident that Freeman is theirs. & They mention they worry about a lingering injury issue with him... so if that's true I don't even really care if he ends up at UConn.

I understand that Basketball and Football are both totally different sports, but I find it incredibly difficult to believe that the principles of recruiting are that much different when Will Stein and even Kenny Brooks for the women's are getting recruits in with JMI hanging over their heads as well. I think it is a MARK POPE problem and having 2 years of sample size at UK with his bizarre sub patterns, I can definitely see why players and recruits wouldn't want to come here. Pope kills momentum in games with those patterns, more often than not.

I don't know if this is the case but from what I gather listening to legitimate media. A lot of these BB players have agents and handlers, football might but it doesn't seem to be broadcast like it is with some of the top players. How many times are the strings being pulled by these "handlers" that truth be told don't have the kids best interest. Second there's AAU BB where these kids make connections, they probably make some connections at football camps. Last but not least there's the shoe companies. You have Stokes saying that he hates Adidias.

Those things may happen in FB recruiting but you don't hear about it. Just my thoughts on the differences

For starters, Kentucky is not a deep blue, one political party state. If a recruit is somewhat or very conservative, Connecticut's politics could be a turnoff.

Also, Kentucky experiences winter, but nowhere close to the extreme cold, snow and lengthy degree that they do up there.

Not to mention, I've heard (never been there, do don't know for sure) that UCONN's facilities are nowhere close to being as nice as Kentucky's.

While I'm not authority on Connecticut women, from what I can tell Kentucky has them beat in that regard.

And lastly, Dan Hurley is a dick. Maybe some recruits don't want to play for a guy like him.

I'm sure there's others, but that's all I've got for now.

Pope needs to fill the other assistant spot with a Top notch guy.

If it was up to me, if replace Mark Fox with Matt McMahon and name him Associate Head Coach. He's available. Them, I would do whatever was necessary to get Orlando Antigua back on staff.
