Yeah, I’ve noticed that some people seem to be under the misconception that the TBT is just an old timers thing. Wrong. It is full of guys still playing high level professional ball overseas.

A retired player who’s been out of the game and lost his legs is gonna get embarrassed in this tournament ….even if he used to be a big star back in the day.

There's a number of players fresh out of College too. Almonor and the Kid who played at Missouri last year on LaFamilia alone.

I thought about MKG and just looked him up, He sadly had to give up basketball due to Myocarditis. Jones is actually now a "Special Advisor for Basketball Operations" for UK i believe. not sure what's prohibiting him other than he's getting up there in age as well. Gonna need to find some big guys willing to play next year. It's just hard, because like Cauley-Stein, once you get a couple years removed from playing, Conditioning starts to drop off significantly.

This is true. I did not have time to look up every ex player and current playing status but players like Reid Travis, Mintz, EJ Montgomery, A. Hagans, W. Gabriel, Wynyard, S. K. Jones, Mulder, Wiltjer, Poythrees, Willis, D. Hawkins, few others.

Limited research, most are still playing somewhere professionally and I can understand the liability of getting injured more than anything.

Maybe they do initially ask and recruit true UK alum first, maybe they just are doing the best they can do to fill out a roster, I don't know.


With that being said, I know it's a tough unpopular stance to take (UK only or boycott) but hopefully in the future we can truly field a team of ex Wildcats.

I may tune in regardless but with the UK season and NBA season over, kind of been on non basketball vacation for a bit until October.

I saw where Tre Mitchell is playing for the West Virginia Alum team. They have several guys who didn't play for WVU on their squad, including Jarrod West. He played for Marshall (who actually has their own team) for four years then transferred to Louisville for a fifth Covid year. Odd he's involved with the WVU alum team when he played for two other schools that have teams in the tourney.

Well, we are just one of FOUR schools that Mitchell played for …and for only one season …so it’s easy to see why we might not be his primary choice.

Having Alum teams was a great idea for TBT, but it would’ve worked better and meant more in past eras. Being an alum doesn’t mean as much in today’s mass transfer era where players are jumping from school to school each year.

The one that showed up and I'm impressed with is Liggins. That dude still looks and plays like he did back at the end of the BCG days and beginning of the Cal days. He's still absolutely in SHAPE.

One of my best friends is a "booster" for the team that we're going to play Tuesday night.

He's deeply into TBT. He'll call and just yap my ear off about it for an hour if I let him.

I mean, it's cool, but it's not THAT cool.

I have wondered on the logistics and money to field one of these teams. Got to imagine it’s a lot of work for little reward.

Willie's dunk could've been an epic finish to that.

That was still fun...but the rebounding situation in the two games I watched can only be described as unbelievable. Or maybe surreal. Just could not grab long rebounds to save their lives.
