The TBT is honestly an amazing thing. There are all kinds of interesting human stories in this thing. Saw a guy with cancer out there, people who couldn't walk just a couple years ago playing...it really is a one-of-a-kind event.

The heart of basketball is in the park and pick-up game. City basketball with guys just convening to play, jazz-like, is where the game of basketball began its first real evolution into what we see today. It's not beautiful like it is when you watch organized ball, but the pieces are there...and the players want it, so you have the fire of competition.

I enjoy watching it just as a basketball nerd.

        Are these players getting paid?
The team gets $1 million if they win.

That's also the thing with your posts, when someone refutes them you're "just throwing" something out there. I typically do a little research before throwing stuff at the wall hoping something sticks.
          That's some pretty good bread..

One of my best friends is a "booster" for the team that we're going to play Tuesday night.

He's deeply into TBT. He'll call and just yap my ear off about it for an hour if I let him.

I mean, it's cool, but it's not THAT cool.

Fair enough, seems like it's a good thing.

Still at this point, I just lost interest with the non UK add on's this year but that's just me. With tall the ex UK alum, would think it would be full of UK players but I guess not..

                He's trolling you.

Tell him his team sucks, he wasted his money, his team is going to get it's blank kicked.

Maybe he can write some of it off on his taxes...

                A. Harrison with the dagger for the win....

Do you even proofread your own posts? You literally said you were just "throwing his name out there" after folks told you he played last year and was awful. It would have taken 5 seconds to type "2024 La Familia Roster" into your search bar.

Whole point was with all the players that came through and went pro through Cal (58) not including all the one's who didn't , still not sure why it's not all UK alum.

Again, Young just came to mind and no I did not need to proofread or research the 24 team, It don't matter, it's not that important.

Im just trying to figure out why it's not all UK but again, still don't matter.

If we are keeping score, you can check your box for the win but again, still don't matter, its not that important..

Yeah, I’ve noticed that some people seem to be under the misconception that the TBT is just an old timers thing. Wrong. It is full of guys still playing high level professional ball overseas.

A retired player who’s been out of the game and lost his legs is gonna get embarrassed in this tournament ….even if he used to be a big star back in the day.

That Auburn team La Familia played for instance was straight brutal physically. For one, huge. And for two, they'd just throw you around. I thought they got in La Familia's head as the game went on.

Also surprising that D. Liggins isn't that team's enforcer. He's kinda chill out there. Meanwhile the Harrison twins look like they're out for blood on every possession lol.

Well Sean Woods was a much better player than he was a coach.

Anyways, it's all good, Im just not into it with the non UK add on's for some reason.

Maybe it's the fact that POPE has rubbed off on me, UK FIRST!!!!!!

What about MKG, Terrance Jones, Darius Miller, Knight, Harrellson, Cousins, Orton, just so many...
I thought about MKG and just looked him up, He sadly had to give up basketball due to Myocarditis. Jones is actually now a "Special Advisor for Basketball Operations" for UK i believe. not sure what's prohibiting him other than he's getting up there in age as well. Gonna need to find some big guys willing to play next year. It's just hard, because like Cauley-Stein, once you get a couple years removed from playing, Conditioning starts to drop off significantly.

MKG has been completely out of basketball for over half a decade now. And I believe Miller and TJ are also long since retired. Those dudes haven’t played on any level (not even overseas) in years.

The good thing about the three non-UK guys is they’re young and in peak condition. I think it’s better to have that …even if they played at a lower college level …than see a washed up former UK star be embarrassed because his legs are now long gone.
TJ last played in 2023 overseas. Looks like Miller hasn't played since 2021.
