I’d love to know what happened to Calipari and the power brokers of the sport. When Kenny Payne went to the Knicks I thought that was something of a sign that “we were still close” with the William Wesley’s of the sport, but it’s clear that isn’t the case at least like it used to be.

Cal miffed Phil Knight when we didn’t play in his tourney. But what else happened?

To me this sounds like LeBron pulling strings to try and get Bronny help.

Yep. Klutch’s fingerprints are all over this one.

"Bradshaw will be at Kentucky next year. Kid and the staff talk almost daily." This from my Person.

Doesn't mean Klutch isn't trying some shady stuff.

Meanwhile Kentucky is targeting some help at forward in San Diego St. grad transfer Keshad Johnson.

He's a defense-first guy but he did have 14 points in the national championship game. Looks like he'd be more of an energy, hustle, toughness type of guy if we could get him.

But he'd be important because we badly need some depth on the front line.

Wish he was a better shooter.

I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything from Livingston, who also has ties to Klutch/Lebron. I’m guessing UK wants Keshad Johnson regardless of his decision.

I'd really like to have some scorers.

Is Kentucky still showing interest in Dingle?

Of course, our biggest weakness in these down years has been defense, so guys like Johnson couldn't hurt.

Yep. Have to hope that improves this year. Dillingham’s build, for example, worries me on this front. Isn’t Wagner supposed to be good defensively ?

I also thought it’s an area where Bradshaw could help Oscar out some.

Were they ever? Serious question. I don’t know if Cal was/is on him, or if fans just tried to will that recruitment into existence.

I don't think I've seen anything about the staff being in on Dingle. There's the other guy though, Nelson? I think maybe they're on him.

It's always hard to tell with freshmen. Probably because being "good" defensively is a lot about effort and motor. MKG on line one.

And let's face it, a surprisingly high number of our freshmen have been bad defensively. It even took the Wall team some time. They gave up absurd points early in the season before they got it. And then others just never did get it. It's ironic on such an average team but Cason Wallace was arguably the best defender we've had on the perimeter outside of MKG. That's really rare for young players.

It's weird though that as we've gotten older and he's started to use the portal more the team has gotten worse defensively. I chalk that up to the athletes not being as good. It's the same reason we've had such a hard time the last handful of years breaking guys down off the dribble.

                            2015....

Actually enjoyed J. Murray with the bullseye bow and Monk and Fox. Oscar first team was pretty good as well. Before Covid took away the season, was excited about Herro and Maxey team, teams was starting to hit on all cylinders before it all came tumbling down....

2010 and 2015 are both really hard to rank in terms of "fun." Hard to separate what happened at the end with the season as a whole. You can throw 2020 and 2022 in there as well.

2014 is interesting too for the opposite reason. Season was pretty crappy. The end was amazing.
