As I said above I like Chris Livingston mostly because he looks older than Greg Oden.

GAMs are important to have in CBB. You need dudes who can take contact and finish. Cal seems to be done getting dudes that are about 20-30 lbs light and just can't compete physically on the perimeter and wing against the big boys. Wallace, Clark, Sharpe are all physical guards and Livingston is a physical wing that can play small ball 4. Hopkins is in the same mold this year. Cal is focusing on perimeter skillset and physicality in his recruiting positions 1-4. And with Oscar and Bona, he's bringing in one physical big per yr at least.

Chris Livingston will announce on Wednesday. It will almost certainly be Kentucky.

If Cal and Co can land Clark, Sharpe, Wallace, Livingston and somehow get Lively to come aboard...holy cow, that could possibly be his best class at UK. That would be 5 of the top 12 recruits in a loaded and really talented 2022 class.

Recruiting and the "hot school" goes in circles, and the cream rises to the top.

Which is why I always thought it was silly when people were complaining about how Cal "lost it."

Well, in all honesty, both could be true. It does go in cycles but Cal might also have been on the brink of losing it.

A lot of coaches might have just jumped ship. Cal probably thought about it. But the NIL and Antigua being willing to come back may have literally saved Cal's career at UK.

I think it was very much an operations and communication issue with Cal and his assistants when it came to recruiting the last few years. This was eluded to by Jack Pilgrim on his latest Sources Say podcast episode.

If you'll notice, a lot of recruit's showed interest and UK would be perceived to be the favorite early, but then another school would come along and gain momentum and Cal's assistants would be slow to react and maintain their presence and would tell Cal they're good and Cal would have to try and save it at the end. Also alot of things out if UK's control have contributed to big misses as perceived favorites. UK was the favorite for Zion, Wiseman, and had Cunningham until for various reasons they didn't. Get those three and things look much different.

There's no question there's a relationship between UK bringing back Antigua and bringing in Chin Coleman and recruiting picking back up.

I guess what I meant is the 'it' Cal had lost was a trustworthy staff who could get it done.

This is undoubtedly a big part of it, but if reports are to be believed, Cal has played the point man on all of these recruitments.

Sharpe, Livingston, Wallace and Lively are apparently Cal-led recruitments.

                            Maybe Downes can verify this?

Cal is playing a bigger role but it is a collective team effort by all the coaches. They have done away with the "lead recruiter" deal for each recruit.

Wallace is a Lucas Texas connection. Sharpe was Cal, Livingston is mostly Cal (with O) and Lively is mostly O (with Chin) from what I have been told.

                                Thanks for the clarification.
