That was my reaction as well. If Sharpe successfully Hamidou’d us I would flip my stuffing.

The article in the Herald makes it sound like he’s not eligible as he is no longer an international player, but I guess there are always exceptions.

There's just no scenario where he comes in December and doesn't consider going pro in May. Mike Tyson said 'everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth' - well that applies here. Everyone has a plan until dollar signs start showing up.

So it seems the Bona saga is about over and everyone is changing their predictions to UCLA....wonder what happened there?

Not sure, but it's a disappointing turn of events. Kentucky continues to be mystifyingly bad at luring big men (if Bona indeed chooses UCLA).

Calipari is talking at media day now about how he's going to finish the 2022 class. Says if he misses on somebody they may take a transfer. Have to think he's talking about Bona.

He and his circle were extremely turned off by how we prioritized Lively. He also is concerned with how he will be used. One of these days Cal is going to learn of the "bird in the hand" proverb.

... and I don't fault him one iota for choosing another powerhouse after being slighted. A believer in the adage "A bird in the hand...." would have jumped for Bona if convinced he was ours, but not sure about Lively. It ain't over, 'till it's over, but looks like Cal's "grand strategy" is sputtering.

                    100% this.

I was told yesterday that Cal and UK have moved on from Bona (or he moved on from them) and there is “no chance (in his opinion) that Bona comes to UK”

The big guy who committed to KU today over UCLA sealed it for me.

Hope it didn’t happen but could Johnny J have said some negative things about his time at UK?

If you’re Cal and you had a real shot at Lively, you had to take it. He and Bona could’ve coexisted and that was always the pitch. From everything I’ve heard, Bona had the green light to commit to UK months ago but chose to hold off. It seems a little whiny and disingenuous for Bona to play the “priority” card.

                          Ah, I didn’t realize that.

He also has people in his “circle” who are steering him to UCLA, so there’s that.

If winning does mean anything to Bona, then he really can't lose no matter who he chooses. UCLA has a chance to be a very good team, so it's not like the lure of possibly playing for a championship weighs in on any part of this decision. And to be honest, if he's upset about the Lively situation, then good riddance, because in my eyes that is the kind of player that is not wanting to compete for time and wants to know he will be the go to player in that position.
