I saw a funny post that said Kentucky fans were just as happy as Gonzaga fans to see that shot go down because hopefully it takes place of Laettner's highlight all the time.

I'm skeptical that it will because it seems like the networks love praising Duke and tormenting Kentucky fans, but we can hope!

Going to the game tonight, is there another title game that's been more anticipated than this one? Gonzaga and Baylor have been the best teams all year and have been head and shoulders above anyone else.

There's no way tonight's game can come close to that UCLA/Gonzaga game, but it should be a good game.

Trying to think of the last time the two best teams all season ended up playing in the championship game.

I think you might have to go back to Florida/UCLA in '06, though I'm not even sure about that one. Duke/Arizona in 2001 maybe.

Usually one team slips in there that just caught fire late. Didn't happen this season but UCLA almost did it.

You're right but it could be just as enjoyable if Baylor wins.

Agreed. Also a good contrast in styles, because Baylor can play really physical and will be a good test for Gonzaga.

I think Baylor could win it, which means Gonzaga will probably win by 15.

Really surprised that Gonzaga is a 5 point favorite tonight. That's a pretty big spread for two teams that (on paper) are so closely matched.

True heavyweight title bout here. But I’d say there have been more anticipated championship games just because of the fan bases involved. Like MLB and FoxSports would love the Yankees and Dodgers in the World Series every year because of the size of their markets. Should be a great matchup.

Well, yeah, but I just mean in college basketball. I'm sure our title game against Kansas or the preceeding Final Four game against Louisville was pretty highly anticipated, but weren't actually very good games.

People have been wanting this game all year since it got canceled back in December due to Covid.

Don't be surprised if Baylor wins.

                        A) Gonzaga doesn't go undefeated
                        B) I would win two pools I am in and get about $500 if Baylor wins

I was wondering as well when the last season was where the top 2 teams, poll wise ended up playing in the title game. I can't imagine it has happened very often. But after quickly glancing at the Duke/Zona matchup, Zona was only ranked #5 when the tournament started even though they were the preseason #1.

And after a little more looking, I didn't realize that Illinois leapfrogged Baylor on the final AP poll, so on paper this really isn't a #1 vs #2 matchup. Although most would agree that Gonzaga and Baylor have been the top 2 teams all season.

Another thing that I can't imagine has happened many times before is that the preseason #1 and #2 teams end up meeting in the title game, especially after staying at those rankings for most of the season.
