The constant revolving door around UK is frustrating to say the least. Whitney is going to be a guy we regret losing in a year or two.

The problem is he seemed to not want to be here in a year or two. He was thought to be The Guy and when that didn’t work out he decided to transfer.

He didn’t strike me as a guy who wants to play behind Terrence Clarke and the other recruits coming in next year.

All we've heard all year is how much Whitney sucks. I don't blame him for leaving.

Whitney leaving should be no surprise. Leaving on January 23rd is odd tho. Wouldn't be surprised if he tries to play professionally now, at least that's what those around him want.

Although this hurts the team, it probably doesn't change Cal's rotation much. I wish him well.

It's definitely not a shock at all. Still a bummer as I think the talent and ability are there. He just couldn't put it all together.

It's unfortunate but he obviously wasn't going to accept the role of being a 5-10 minute guy, or a defensive stopper(which he could be). Pure athlete, but has a long way to go before he ever sniffs the pros and I think he thought after high school that college would be similar. It might not hurt us on a normal night, but a night where we get into foul trouble, which will happen, another capable body will be missed.

He has demonstrated he can't yet play at this level, where does he think he is going that will be better? Unless he just wants minutes at a school that won't mind that he can't play at an elite level.

Hard to say if he can't play at this level or if he can't play at this level yet.

Probably the worst player of the Cal era outside the walk-ons. Almost unfathomably poor given where he was ranked in high school.

And with this particular team it's hard to say how much this affects us, or if it affects us at all.

On one hand you never know when a guy with Whitney's athleticism and size will click. Maybe he would've clicked this March.

On the other hand, this clears the road a little for guys like Keion Brooks, who has shown he can play. Without Whitney getting any minutes in front of him maybe that opens Brooks up to be more free.

I meant yet. He has great upside.

I don't know where he thinks he can go and get better faster.

Agree with this... I think many knew this was coming just not yet. I personally don't think there is as much talent there as everyone wants to say. I think he is very undersized and was way over-hyped out of HS. It happens though. After all, these are HS kids away from home the first time and sometimes, the first college is not the right fit. I don't see him tearing it up anytime soon at a big D1 school although someone will give him a chance.

Just wait till the one and done is gone from the NBA... Kids like him will disappear into the G league and out within a few years with nothing to fall back on.
