If a bigger stronger improved Nick Richards would come back, he would be better than any recruit that's left that Cal can get in my opinion. It took WCS 3 years to really get it so i hope Nick can believe in that and for Cal to re sell him on that.....

I will also add about next season - UK is not getting Hurt (Duke) or McDaniels (west coast). I also don't think Todd or Dante are reclassifying to 2019 and even if they did they are fringe top 20 recruits in NEXT year's class, they aren't going to be impact guys next season in college.

The only option (IMO) for a big guy for next year is a grad transfer. And, there aren't any big time guys out there that I have seen.

2020 is going to be a recruiting challenge for Cal. The top guys are really good but there isn't any player right now, other than Cunningham, in the top 10-12 that seems likely to come to UK.

Richards hasn't shown any of the flashes that WCS showed.

I hope Nick does return but so far he hasn't been that caliber of player. In all honesty he's not been close.

I'd like to see Herro and Johnson come back. Aside from my own selfish reasons, I truly think both could really benefit from one more year. Neither are going to be playing in the NBA next year.

With those two, the roster is deep and talented. The only big question is the hole in the center that James Wiseman should've filled. I'm not really sure how we address that, because I don't think Nick Richards is ever going to be good enough.

I think it's a confidence and pt thing knowing you won't get yanked the first time you make a mistake, i think he overthinks and plays scared and cautious. I am not saying he's WCS but WCS wasn't that great his freshman year, second year was better, 3rd year we all know how the story goes. To me Nick has showed some flashes and i think he can get alot better, we need him imo....

As for the point guard situation, Quickley would be better at a 2 than the 1, that's my opinion....

And if Petty from Alabama is available, that's the type of 2 guard we need it Herro and Johnson are gone...

Petty wouldn't be available next year. He'd have to sit out and we'd have him in 2020-2021.

Wasn't certain, thought with a coaching change he would be available immediately....

That rule was talked about but never put in, I don't think. They did institute that "transfer portal" thing to make it easier to transfer.

But even though the Alabama players put their names into the portal it doesn't necessarily mean they'll transfer. I sort of expect Nate Oats to be such a good hire that they'll likely come back to school.

Matt Jones just hinted on the radio that Quickley is someone to watch in terms of a transfer. Said it's not certain and he's not saying he is gone but said it's "definitely something to keep an eye on".

He said he thinks one of Baker/Quickley are likely to be somewhere else IF Hagans returns.

Can’t really see why anyone thinks Johnson is ready to play in NBA. He had a so so year at college, if he was playing anywhere else the idea of going pro this year would be laughable, but at U.K. it’s expected. Should take a close look at Washington’s story and try and emulate it. As for Hagans , why wouldANYONE draft him right now, Cal needs to set him down and tell him like it is, he isn’t even a good player at the college level yet much less pro. Hero will leave and he will probably make a squad but I feel he has a lot of work to do to actually play regularly. If he thinks guarding Auburn’s guards was bad wait till he tries NBA types.

                              That makes sense about Quickley.

If Hagans returns that's a crowded backcourt all of a sudden, and Quickley is the odd man out.

I like Quickley but I worry about his burst. To help us he'd have to be the sort of player who was just lights out from three. People are rightfully all over Hagans but Hagans has that extra gear you have to play with at this level. Quickley would have to be sort of a point-scorer type and to do that you have to live in the gym.

Personally I love the idea of a Hagans/Maxey backcourt but obviously Hagans has to get a lot better as well.

Big body. Strong. Plays with intensity. Cares about the game. Good teammate. Decent shooter for his size. Versatile. Young.

I wouldn't put Johnson quite on the level with Kevin Knox because of Knox's length, but people said Knox would be in the D-League as well.

I think Johnson would be okay if he jumped now but the question is could he make a leap up into the lottery if he stayed another year. We all think staying in college automatically helps these guys but you can look around and that's often not the case.
