Hate to see a shooter go and he did alright on both ends but would rather have a defender and a offensive player who can shoot the 3 and drive to the rim....Comment

There's just way too much roster turnover every year, especially if we're not getting the studs we used to get.Comment

I have to say, the current level of roster volatility dampens my enthusiasm for the team as a fan.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... We need to rename our team the transientcats I just hate the current trends at UK. Don’t see it changing anytime soon so I’ll just bite the bullet and wait for a different philosophy on how to run a program, and please don’t lecture me about this is how it is in modern college basketball. It’s the way it is at Kentucky not everywhere. A bunch of folks are doing it different and some of them are having as much or more success than Cal. UK has become the Mecca of the college basketball mercenaryComment

Product of the times I guess.

Kentucky is their one shot at the NBA after a year. A very select few come back and try to give it one more year.
That's about as far as they're willing to go, because at that point Kentucky has exhausted what it can do for you. You're better to transfer, take the redshirt, and then reboot your two-year career somewhere else. Or go overseas.
It's sort of a perversion of what college sports is about. I don't have a deep ethical problem with it (I think the one-and-done thing has generally given more to UK than taken away), nor do I really pine for the olden days that much, but it's definitely not what college sports is supposed to look like.Comment
