truth is that even with PJ healthy....this team lost to Seton Hall. If Wofford goes on a three point shooting rampage it will be hard to keep up with them no matter what. I tend to think that the second half of the game will be when the Wofford kids start to run out of steam a bit. Trick is going to be not falling so far behind the Cat's cant catch up.

No news that I've seen. I think I heard that they were going to take the cast off tomorrow and see where they were.
Seems like it's an issue of (1) pain and (2) whether playing will risk further injury.
(1) is obviously in PJ's court. But (2) is a lot more complex obviously. Cal as we know is super conservative with injuries; whether that's because the players' families reach out to him and urge caution or not I don't know, but they will absolutely not risk a player's health over a single game. If there are any questions at all then he won't play.
On the other hand, it could be that they felt they could get through this past weekend without him and now they're going to be a little more aggressive with trying to get him back. I keep going back to Kenny Payne's "we're trying to buy PJ some time" thing and that to me doesn't sound like something you'd say about a player who you knew would never play again for UK.Comment

I suspect PJ will be back this weekend. He didn't come back to Kentucky to sit out his last NCAA tournament because of a foot sprain (if that is truly all it is).
I think the staff thought they could sneak past the first weekend without him.Comment

FWIW...listened to KSR a little while this morning. Matt Jones says cast comes off tomorrow. Then the evaluation will start. Pain is a concern. Who knows?? I don't think anyone does until the cast comes off.Comment

I have a couple of thoughts about the cast.
I've seen people saying online, "There's no way he plays if he's in a hard cast!" If you look at that cast, it's weird. First, it doesn't look like an actual "cast" so much as sort of a hard brace. He was wearing it over his pants the other day, which suggests it's more like a boot.
Also, PJ stands up a ton over there on the bench. My dad and my best friend's wife just went through MAJOR foot issues recently, and both were in casts. Trust me, neither could stand up at all for literally months. Totally laughable suggestion for either of them to try standing or putting any weight whatsoever on their injured foot. That PJ is standing up at will suggests that the cast isn't really a true cast but is more like a padding to stabilize the foot--which was Cal's original statement.
Of course, none of that says that PJ will play basketball. But to me the hard cast thing doesn't really say a whole lot when you see how he uses that cast.Comment

If I was PJ I would just man up and ask for a cortisone shot. Can't imagine this is anything career threatening so just try and make it through a couple weeks and then do what you need to do.Comment
