They've tried Green out at point guard but he's fantastically awful there. Have to play him at the 2 so he can hit shots, and he's done that somewhat this season. But you have to live with his hellish turnover rate, and he can't guard. So here we are.
As for the others, I'm not sure about Quickley. He has more length and probably agility than Quade but, like Quade, he isn't a burner. He's a guy who pretty much has to hit shots to help you, and he's been up and down there.
Herro should play a lot but he has to start hitting threes. I see him on a totally different level than Quade.
And I like Hagans more than any of them, but Hagans is the definition of a work in progress. But Ashton Hagans has something that few guys on this team have. He just is not a shooter and is very hesitant offensively. I really hope Quade leaving (if he does) makes it so that Hagans gets more confident in his role. I really like him but it's unclear if he's going to get it as a freshman. Perhaps Quade's departure speeds up Hagans' maturation.Comment

We better be careful here.
Because if we're not happy with Final Fours then we're going to be happy with almost no one.
At Kentucky, everybody who's won a title after Rupp has won only one. There's a reason there are Final Four and runner-up banners in Rupp--because it's damn hard getting there.
If we can't celebrate those seasons then we probably need a new hobby.
The anti-Cal sentiment hasn't started because of that. After all the Final Four seasons fans have been pretty stoked--and for good reason. Those were fun, competitive, solid teams. No, people have become anti-Cal because of the constant churn in the program and because this year would make four consecutive seasons we didn't make a Final Four.
FF's mark successful seasons. We can't hold coaches up to a standard where they have to win championships. That just makes this whole thing too stressful and not fun. But if a FF and/or title is the benchmark, coaches at Kentucky making $8 mil a year have to deliver on one of those with some regularity.Comment

It's clear that to make this bargain work that it requires elite talent or really, really good players with experience. We don't have either of that right now, and we're missing out on the elite players for the future.

I agree with the point (has been made before) the the early entry to the draft has in it's own way damaged the program...if a player does NOT make the jump, he is almost looked at as a failure. It has seemed....SEEMED...to create more of a me over team than before...and it takes nearly a year before that fades.
our sophomores other than PJ look lost or disinterested ...almost as if they had forgotten the team concept during the off season.Comment

Not sure why the anti Cal stuff is in this thread This kid wasn’t sure he wanted to be here before the season started. It’s not Cals fault he wasn’t successful here. As for Cal should have known he wasn’t good enough before he recruited him that’s nonsense. EVERY coach in America misses on some kids for a host of reasons. I have many problems with Cal at present but this isn’t one of them. If the kid doesn’t want to be here Vaya Con DiosComment

As for Green, hell yeah it's Cal's fault, he recruited him, did he think he was getting Ulis 2.0 or the Chris Lofton? . Hell Cal has always recruited point guards who are big and attack the rim, not 5 foot 7 two guards who play off the ball, hell Patrick Sparks is not walking through that door....
Anyways, Cal like any other coach who's ever coached at Kentucky deserves to be held accountable. You can lose by Duke by a respectable margin and folks can accept it but you just can't lose by 34 with a team who was hyped as one of the best in the Nation coming into the season, even Cal thought this was going to be a helluva ride. Time to put that 8 million dollar salary to work and figure it out sooner than later.....Comment
