A friend put it to me like this, and though I'd heard the phrase a million times, in that moment it all made sense for some reason: "It's the Great American Pastime. The whole point of watching a game is to pass the time."

I can go to a game and enjoy it but just can't watch it on tv. I will watch the playoffs and World Series though. I used to love baseball as a kid. I knew all the players and collected all the cards. The older I got I just lost interest.Isaiah 5:20👍 1Comment

Believe it or not, i would love for Tiger Woods to win it. I can say that i agree with his off court antics with his wife years ago but everybody makes mistakes and he paid for it in his own way via his health, karma works that way. I wasn't the biggest Tiger fan when he was on top of the world but now that he's shown he's human, i can pull for him now. Watched him in person sink a putt on 16 at Valhalla at the PGA championship years ago and it was a surreal experience in the moment...
Anyways, hoping i can get back to playing golf soon. After having a stroke last year, last year was the first time since i was 12 years old that i didin't play golf at all....Comment

Same here. In Tiger's case i don't think his age is a concern at this point because he is in such great shape, he still has time to catch Jack if he can get his short game back. Tiger is known for his power but his finesse and short game was off the charts when he was on top of the world...Comment

I don't watch the NBA because I had lost interest in it too. I wish I could watch more, though, because I've heard it's really improved in the last few years. Lots of young players, improved play, etc. I love watching the playoffs, it's really good basketball.
I don't like the developing trend of super teams, though.Comment

Its always been that way. Back after Bird and Magic came into the NBA it was the Lakers and Celtics. The Sixers and Rockets snuck in there in a couple of times but that was it. Then it sort of morphed into the Pistons and Bulls. The NBA playoffs have always been very predictable. Its tough for an underdog to win a best of seven series in basketball. I'm sure its good now but I've lost interest and doubt I would ever regain it. I have other things I want to do in life and have moved on.
I feel you about having other things to do, though. I have a 7 month old...my evenings and weekends are more important to me than basketball.Comment

I question whether his body can hold up. The book Hank Haney wrote about his time as his caddy leads me to think he may not have much left in the tank.Comment

I know, but the trend of superstars teaming up to form these super teams is a newer phenomenon. Lebron joining Bosh and Wade in Miami, Durant joining Steph Curry in Golden State. It would be like Bird and Magic joining up, Patrick Ewing joining MJ and Pippen, etc.

Teams still have to stay within the salary cap unless they have Bird rights on a player then they can go over and pay the luxury tax. With that being said, players just team up and take less money in order to stay within the cap. Players like Lebron and KD take pay cuts but with shoe deal and endoresements, they are still getting paid off the court so it's a give and take in order to play for a Championship. Honestly i don't like it but players have figured out how to beat the system which is why we now have these Super teams unfortunately.....Comment

Yeah, he was the best 100 yards in guy I'd ever seen in his prime. That shot he hit from a bunker at...the 15th hole I think the last time he won at the Masters where it landed 15 feet left of the hole and rolled sideways into the cup is one of the most incredible golf shots I've ever seen. How he had the vision and ability to pull that off I'll never know.

I haven't read the bood but here's my take on Tiger Woods.
1. To swing the way he used too with so much torque in the swing, it will take a toll on your body, it did me. When i was in the best shape of my life and played almost everyday I could hit 115mph on the swing with a driver but Tiger was 130ish with so much more torque and power i cant even imagine.
2. When Tiger Woods was young and wasn't so buff, just seems to me his swing was more fluid, golf is not a game where bigger muscles mean you hit the ball farther. When i used to teach golf part time with a friend of mine who's a PGA professional teaching pro, the one thing i would do with younger kids is have them hold up there arm to the side and squeeze make a fist then drop the arm. Then i would have them hold the arm out again and relax, then drop the arm. I wanted to teach them that the tense muscles and squeezing doesnt mean more power, relaxed is the way to go. I think Tiger actually gained to much muscle and it hurt his golf swing..
3. Golf is all about confidence above all. Tiger used to be Superman, he felt and believed no one could touch him and it showed on the golf course. Many of his peers had already lost before they even showed up, they feared Tiger Woods and Tiger knew that. Once he was knocked down as a man in his personal life, Tiger lost his confidence for once in his life and then his back went out, the rest is history..
