It's nice to see all the guys Cal "missed on" declaring for the draft while the ones he "settled for" are trying to get to a Final Four.

If Diallo continues to play well and we get to the Final Four I think he is gone, the wildcard to me for next years team is SKJ. He has improved dramatically this season, if he continues to progress he could be a force in the paint next year. Wenyen definitely needs to return, never make an NBA club with current skill set, but he has improved as well, another year of improvement and who knows. As for Vanderbilt, a year to prove he can hit a shot AND stay healthy would seem to be in his interest. I think of WCS coming back for another year as the model for him. Willie definitely helped himself by coming back. SGA and Knox are history when tourney is over..In reality however I will be very surprised if we don’t lose5 players at seasons end.Cal recruits these kids to go pro as fast as possible, and I thinks that’s just what these kids will try to do

While I agree, it's pretty shortsighted. If you add Ayton or Bamba or even Young to this team it's a totally different animal. With Ayton or Bamba this team is very likely the favorite to win it all and would have a much easier road to a title.

But, I'm excited to see what happens with the crew we have.

Yes, it would have definitely made a huge change in this team. Some good and some likely bad. I would love having Bamba on this team. Not sure about Ayton. He has plenty of talent but he seems lazy and self centered. And in the case of Young I think he would have ruined this team. Can't have a guy play zero defense and jack up as many shots as he did without having an effect on everything. I can say with absolutely no hesitation there is no way I would trade SGA for Trae Young.

That seems to be the way it works. Players every year rise their level of play in the tourney and their draft stock rises significantly. Please don't think this is a UK fan wishing against our players for the benefit of our future. I hope they all realize their dreams. But with what has happened in our region I'm not sure how Hami or anyone else's play so far effects their stock very much. You don't normally get a shot at the final 4 without playing a single team who's been anywhere near then top 25 all season.

Davidson and Buffalo were teams we would normally play in November as warm-ups for conference play. I'm proud of our team and how they're playing but it's been fairly smooth sailing.

Now if we make the final 4 and beat Michigan and Nova/KU/Duke then it'll be fire sale big time and I'll be happy for the players and the fanbase. Just saying I don't know that what they've done so far changes a lot in the eyes of the scouts.

This was in response to Jload's post 17.

Cal's a hell of a coach. That's the long and short of it.

This team still doesn't have a whole lot of elite talent. Bamba would have definitely helped, but Bamba wasn't the freak that everybody thought he could be. The Texas games I watched he was often mired in foul trouble and really wasn't a factor at all in their offense. We were never getting Ayton and Trae Young would have really helped us...but what would that have done to Shai?

It all kind of worked out. Worked out far better for us than them in the end.

Would this Kentucky team have beaten better talent in this tournament? Impossible to say. Probably not. But if you're the kind of person who sits around thinking about that, it's likely time to find another hobby.

And the type of player that Kentucky really needed more than anything, the type that could have helped us so much, was a shot-maker who could play off the ball.

We really didn't miss on a guy like that. Young might have led to Shai returning as a sophomore, which could have been special...but Young could have shot us out of these games late where we've kind of become (gasp) efficient.

Of all the guys we lamented missing, there really wasn't a player who was a pure 2-guard who could go out there and hit 40% from the three-point line. John Petty certainly wasn't the guy on this team. Cal went with Hami, and Hami's story may not have reached its final chapter yet.

Not sure if my post was deleted here yesterday or if i fogot to hit the send button but as i said yesterday, what time does Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma play this weekend? I am looking at the schedule and i don't see the time for them lol lol lol lol lol

My advice to one and done's, if you actually want to play for all the chips, go to Kentucky or Duke, it works. If you want to go to a school and be the man and get your shots up, go elsewhere but just know that once you get to the NBA, you are not the man and you will have to eventually learn your role.....

Very true, and what if Vanderbilt was 100% all season. Those could’ve been huge differences to how this season has progressed.

Anfernee Simon's declares after a year in prep school and is projected 1st round. Things may get crowded and encourage Diallo, JV or others to stick around.

Kostas Antetokounmpo, brother of Giannis nottypingthatnameagain, will declare for the draft.

Ohio State's Kieta Bates-Diop to enter. I really like him as a player and think he could be one of those guys who shocks people, a la Mitchell and Kuzma.

Yep...he's also a guy that definitely goes before Diallo and, IMO, possibly before Knox and Shai. I would absolutely take him before Knox. Shai would be a tossup for me. His age (22) is probably going to hurt him though.

Arkansas's Gafford to return. Huge for them and a surprise. He was a 12-15 pick

Michael Porter Jr declares for NBA draft
