Sure, but you have to think about what we expected earlier in the year. If you had told me two weeks ago that SGA, Knox, and SKJ announced they were leaving, who wouln't be surprised? SKJ wouldn't get off the bench next year unless there was an injury or EJ Montgomery is a bust.

If SKJ was in line to get a lot of PT next year, we'd be lampooning him because of how little talent we had on the front line. Now we're mad when he sees the writing on the wall that he's being recruited over?

As to the other losses, I'll fret about those when they happen. No sense in that yet.

Did I miss something or have we not heard what SGA's decision is?

He was better than Richards this year and I would bet better next year. Now whether Cal played him more or not is up for discussion. He was really good late in the year. We should be keeping these kind of players, imo.

It wasn't hard to be better than Richards this past year. A warm body fit that bill.

Not sure about Richards' upside because it was hard to say too much about him. I did love his shooting touch, but I liked Killeya's too. Neither had any semblance of a back-down game.

Cal loves hammers in the post and Richards' body suggests he could be that type of player, but he has a hellaciously long way to go.

I liked Killeya-Jones on this past team, but he was still a guy you were pretty pleased with if he could get you 4 points and a half-dozen rebounds. I think the ceiling for Richards and Montgomery together is much higher, but that's just a hope.

Yeah, but I'm not convinced Richards will see any playing time next year unless there's drastic improvement. And you'll notice that once Vanderbilt started playing, SKJ's minutes decreased substantially.

It depends on who returns next year as to whether this was the right move, but it's hard to see how he gets off the bench much with a front line of Vanderbilt, PJ, Wenyen, and EJ Montgomery. If a couple of those guys don't return then there's a point to be made.

Mikhal Bridges of Villanova enters. Jalen Brunson is expected to also enter shortly.

Ok no serously, is it just me or does it seem like our 17/18 class (frosh or Soph) don't really care so much about where they are drafted (most who are testing the draft waters will be drafted 2nd round which means no guaranteed contract or not drafted at all!) they just don't want to compete with the next wave of players for a starting spot?! It is the only reason that explains it. They know their play this season was "ok" let alone the team just started to turn the corner at the SEC tournament but they believe they are competing/skilled enough to be a high draft pick (make the "good rookie money")? Enter the draft...reallly? I think some parents really need to be open, honest and objective with their sons.

There can be, and probably are, other reasons besides not wanting to compete for playing time. Some of these kids come from less than affluent backgrounds, while others didn't want to go to college to begin with and can't wait to get out.

                        Jalen Brunson enters.

A tremendous college career comes to an end.

At least he stayed three seasons.

Michigan's Moe Wagner enters and signs with an agent.

Another guy who had a really solid career.

                                You know.....
                                I've never been to Europe.
                                or the Mid East
                                or that 'EurAsia' deal.

to go there, play basketball and get paid.......
or stick around, work a 9 to 5 or hang out on the playgrounds, streets or the farm.....

it would be hard for me to tell my kid to not take a flyer. Especially since that money is likely US tax free.
